Old London phonebooks are available on the net via ancestry.co.uk, and that might possibly yield you an address that you can check against electoral registers of the time. All rather time-consuming, but someone might just strike lucky.
FRObisher covered the Earls Court area, apparently.

DCK, you’re right in thinking it’s the young lady’s telephone number: FRObisher 0409, which would have been somwhere in west London.

The UK went over to all-figure numbers in the late 1960s, and the number would now be 0207 370 0409.

In my own small way I’ve been there and done that, rebuilding a derelict engine to a runner. 650cc AMC motorbike in my case.
Yes, that sound when it first fires up is something inspiring, on a par with the yell of a new baby. Just don’t tell my son that:D
    Well done!

I suspect the footage as seen on YouTube and everywhere else depicts events as happening somewhat faster than they actually did.
I’m guessing that it’s come from a standard CCTV camera recording at something like four or five frames a second, which means that as seen it’s probably speeded up by a factor of five or thereabouts.
With 60-odd people on board, unfastening their safety belts, starting to stand up, groping for hand luggage etc – and yes, I know they shouldn’t be doing it – a violent wrench round at the speed suggested by the footage would have produced a lot of broken bones on board the RJ and even, heaven forbid, the possibility of fatalities.
If anyone has definite knowledge to ther contrary that I’m willing to stand corrected, of course.

Sounds like one of the ex-Swiss ATAC Hunters. More here http://www.atacusa.com/company.htm and also on this thread here http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=106636

That’s put a spring into my step, as I knew Ray Holmes, whose Spitfire PM631 is now marked up as. 🙂
Edit: that’s a clumsy way of putting it in English, but I’m sure you get my drift!

As far as I can make out, Nick Furbank is still alive and living in north London.

if we were to find the missing gap in the tunnel somewhere near to where it exits into the basement of the Stork Hotel that would be the icing on the cake so to speak. Thanks in advance.

Alas, the Stork Hotel was demolished in about 1975 for a road scheme in Liverpool.
As the Hess site is also now under a road scheme, are we justified in suspecting a cover-up masterminded by the Ministry of Transport:D

Just to give the pot a stir, this forthcoming film looks to be about to muddy the waters even more when it comes to strafing incidents during the Second World War:

The film may eventually tell a good story, but I’m firmly in the sceptics camp when it comes to historical accuracy. I can detect, sadly, another urban myth in the making: perhaps the Messerschmitt was trying blow the Stork Hotel and its legless guest to smithereens as part of a massive cover-up?:diablo:

These from an air display about 1967 or 68. Elf’n’safety eventually stuck their oar in and, with hindsight, I suppose they had a point:D

I’ve got more of the static display, and when I find the time I’ll try to scan them in.

It looks more like a Merlin-engined B.II Series 1a to me – have a look at the nacelles and the high position of the exhausts.
Not that it helps, to be honest. In 1971 there were no complete Halifaxes anywhere regardless of mark, so the film either has to use old footage or a convincing scale flying model.
