Adam…if you are who I think you are, you will know that the meeting I am attending today is a staff consultative one…the Interpretation Department are asking for ideas and thoughts from IWM staff. I do fully sympathise with you on the touching aircraft front – as an M.A. I lost count of the number of sticky, greasy finger prints I cleaned off aircraft, particularly in the AAM…it’s a Catch 22 situation though – put barriers up and there’s far less chance of finger prints on the aircraft, but with a barrier up the aircraft might become far less interesting…and I would rather a kid get up close to the TSR.2 and thought “hey I like this, this looks interesting” than “oh boring, is it time to go home yet?”
JDK…far as public consultation goes, there has been a suggestion book in Hanger 1 for sometime for the public to make their suggestions for the AirSpace…I know this means making a trip to Duxford to make your suggestion, but I am sure the Interpretation Department would always be interested to hear people’s views…I asked for people’s views so that I could a) put a selection of your views forward at the meeting and b) print this thread out and hand it over to the Interpretation Department as I believe there are several excellent ideas here and it is interesting to read what people think about the IWM and it’s set-up – good and bad!
