Mark12…well this sounds new to me…certainly does not seem to be part of “The Battle for the Battle of Britain” (will double check my copy though to make sure)…I’m unaware of it coming from the IWM archives (particularly (sp?!?)as I work for the IWM Film and Video Archive :)) I will do some digging and find out where it was sourced…
Incidentially, the IWM does hold a reel of film (according to our database) of the Duke of Gloucester visiting Duxford during the filming of Battle of Britain…it’s not been fully accessioned yet and is part of a larger collection of material donated by the D of G or his family…one day I will root out this reel, have a gander and report back 🙂

Is that not a bit too much tonic? :p
Other than that, it sounds very similar to the Ashley way of making gin and tonics 😉

OI! What about the gin? :p
SR71Habu183…well then, next time, instead of posting a rumour without stating in your original thread where you’d heard/read it, why don’t you e-mail Laura straight off and get the facts from the horse’s mouth so to speak (sorry Laura, not suggesting you look like a horse :p)
If you can’t take someone (me) making what I felt was a valid point without getting uptight about it then fine, enjoy yourself over at UKAR…

Fried Mars bar? YUCK! :p
I’m at work…and it’s lunchtime 🙂
Hanged? Don’t tell me they’ve started stringing up aircraft too? 🙁 :p 😉
Only joking!
Seriously, I think I would have to agree with you there, although it will be interesting to see what the IWM example looks like when the boys have finished it…

Make it gin for me and I’m interested :p

I love rumours when they come from the IWM’s very mouth…or at least, what they implied.
Is this a reference to me, or my Museum? If your “rumour” comes from the IWM flying programme sent to you, why didn’t you say that in your first post? Saying “according to Sunday’s programme that the IWM has sent me, that Sunday might be the LA-9’s last airshow” sounds more credible than “I heard a rumour that Sunday might be the LA-9’s last show”…from your original post you might as well have been standing in Tescos and overheard the guy in the queue in front of you talking about it…
Snapper…I think it was possibly more likely that the P-40 would stay in NZ than the Corsair, but it was not definite (as of last weekend) that the P-40 would be staying down under…didn’t Lee say OFMC would have a better idea towards the end of the year/early next year?
Guzzineil…with regards to your comment about missing words…it wouldn’t surprise me…
Ashley
Snapper…didn’t Lee say that it’s a possibility that both the P-40 and Corsair would be staying, but BOTH might come back given the right circumstances?
Anna…you just got to love those rumours huh? 😉
Guzzineil…I think you’ve got a long way to go before you get even close to Alexis on the raffle front :p (I’m only joking, Alexis!)
danohagan…well that Silver Jubilee brochure I mentioned in my last post? Well I bought mine for 5p in the second hand book shop at Wimpole Hall…I heard that another copy of the same brochure sold on ebay recently for £48…so, you never know!
Well you never know what people might have stashed away and don’t want any more…not that I would want to part with any BBMF brochures 🙂
I’m currently on the lookout for old Duxford programmes, I have the (apparently!) much sought after Silver Jubilee programme, I am now after the 1975 Air Day programme (one copy currently on ebay, watching it like a hawk :p)
I do think it would be nice to have it February/March time…before Christmas could be quite difficult with people going Christmas shopping, seeing friends and relatives etc…plus having it after Christmas gives us all something to look forward to.
