Older Thread So Hope You Don’t Mind

Thought i’d share these. Getting back into the swing of things – not great on detail/fiddley bits – but quite happy with these, for my standard anyway. Went to the recent IPMS at Cosford – fantastic stuff there.

For the Queen to arrive by Concorde would be much more fitting than this current parsimonious use of scheduled flights.

Youi can have my tax money for it straight away.

As i understood it – a story apparently goes that Branson was quite keen on the idea but has been told NO!. They wouldn’t want him making a profit on them, when they claim they can’t, by flying to locations other than New York etc..

Queen to have one is a fine idea Moggy – which would you choose? 🙂 G-BOAC??

As with Museums – Cosford could have one surely? What about East Fortune, Manchester and the new expansions at Liverpool (didn’t they get a few prototypes from BAE recently?) Personnaly i wouldn’t mind 2 at Duxford either. They would be different no? Pre-Production G-AXDN and then say G-BOAA for a service model.

I’m told by a member of EMA that the Meteor is WM224 and is currently at the restoration location being ‘worked on’ before going on display. (Don’t know how long this will take).

The last arrival on display was: Wessex XT604

Others currently being prepared are: Whirlwind XG588 and Sheriff G-FRJB

We have pictures on the Museum-Explorer site for those on display – but the server is playing up currently 🙁 – so no pics currently. I could post some here if anyone has a particular interest.

I always call in when passing EMA and it’s always very friendly. I’ll point out this thread to my friend there and get some input from them if you’d like.

    Alas

Thanks for the invite, but i’m not sure it’s possible – i’ll look into it though, significant other would like to come to if it’s possible, but it’s a question of time off work around the weekend as well as funds. She’s a big fan of Blenheims and Vulcans.

If we can’t make it and don’t get any pics – would be delighted to host any that people would like on the web but don’t have their own site or somewhere else they go. (Goes for any museum too)

Before i forget. If anyone has a club/society/website they would like listed – drop me a line and it will go in the links section of the new version of Museum-Explorer which is about a month away.

    Cheers

    We have a few more.

I host my pics on a website I run with a few others, inc Andy Dawson who does the Mossie.org website.

There are more piccys taken at East Fortune, inc the Rest Hanger – you may like a look – it’s all free. The URL is:

Actually, i’d be really interested to see pics of how things have developed and Spitifre LA198 now it’s completed.

Was lucky to be able to arrange a visit back in August 2001, including the restoration hanger – very nice people at East Fortune.

Sorry for the dodgy colour with the pics – but i’d only just got my digital camera.

    Whats the plan?

    Hi

What does the walk-thro plan entail?

You can walk in the Shack at Newark with no obvious drawbacks, as far as i can tell…. not that i know alot.

How does the walkthrough effect the Shack??

    Cheers in advance.

    I think…

Go to the main Flypast page, to the left of the link to the forum is the flypast links button.

I think the ‘www’ in the mag just means that they are amongst the listed links – which are searchable.

    2 Stories.

Mustang 44-74409 is going to be loaned to Hendon with their example going to Cosford whilst it is on Loan.

Will continue to display in the US for this season and then arrive in December in think. (do not know the length of the loan)

PL983 has (or will) join(ed) the restoration queue at HFL.

    Model Air Sea Rescue

Academy Models have a Kit of a B-17 Air Sea Rescue. Although there is a description about ASR in the text about the kit – i can’t tell you if the actual model is during or post-war. It does seem to suggest though that it’s a SB-17G.

    It’s Kit number 2165 in 1/72.Academy Models

Snippets from the text suggest that:

The original boat carried (British Mark II) could carry 7, so with large US bomber crews in ’44 they designed a larger boat, which was dropped from upto 1500ft. These started operating in ’45.

Not forgetting the Bucc at Elvington (XN974?) Taxi’s along opening and closing it’s wings. Not that flapping the wings is really enough to get it airbourne…
