    Hurricane Pilot

During Saturday, possibly about 1pm, though my memory of the time can’t be relied apon, whilst wandering through and looking at the Hurricane et al in the Hanger whn a ‘family group’ was being shown the aircraft.

Turned out that a pilot who flew that actual hurri IV from malta was being re-united with it, whilst his daughter and younger family members took pics etc. (and were quite emotional, though someone quiped – don’t let him start it up!)

Unfortunately i only had my camera with me (and couldn’t write anything down) and have since forgotton the gentlemans name and if KZ321 was in ‘his’ scheme.

If someone happens to know the details i’ve forgotten – i’d be grateful.

    Cheers

    Michael

    Can you help?

Unfortunately, I shall not be able to make the Cockpitfest…. brothers getting married on the Sat and i’m at Kemble on the Sunday!!

I would though be most grateful if someone could send me a list of what makes it to Newark though.

Hope it’s a great Event for those that go.

    Cheers

    Bomber/Fighter?

My answer has to be the direction the tail gunner tells me to!!

    😉

When i first read the 1st post i was going to say exactly what Ant said – knew i’d read it somewhere. Thanks Ant. Must read Piece of Cake again.

The question was though for a Bomber, not fighter. Bombers are different arn’t they? Fighters having one handed controls, bombers the err… ‘stearing wheel’ type with two hands??

So if your right handed is it easier to stear left (hand up) or right (hand down)??

Maybe as the pilot is on the left and he wishes to look out the left window to see the enemy so naturally everything goes left.

    Best i can do anyways.

    BBC report on it:

Found this link on the BBC site for the story. Suggests that planning permission has been granted, though seems funding is not complete.

    Cosford Story

How much you believe it all depends on how you read paragraph two that calls the V-Bomber trio fighters!

    Not sure but

I think the aim of the hanger was to preserve as many as possible of the airframes that are listed as being of significant importance. There’s a list up at the entrance to the part of the museum housing the ‘personal effects’ and other models/wreckage etc…. i’ve a pic somewhere of the list… i’ll see if i can find it.

    Canopy.

    I’ve a few pics from June 2001 of XN728.

The canopy back then was certainly not as smashed as it is now.

    Here’s one:

Didn’t see this thread when posting to the other….

Was wandering around the McCarther Glen outlet at York recently and happened to see a shirt in the Paul Smith outlet shop. (Some designer stuff – think i got the name right).

Anyways the Lighting at A1/Newark was being used as the print design!!

Wonder how they got permission for that….

    Harvard

I saw the report on Anglia whilst visiting home.

    Think the Harvard was FE992 ‘K@T’ G-BDAM.

Didn’t hear the report say if the Harvard would end up in Canada as well.

    🙂

Was just delighted that it was so close and in theory i’ll be able to go. Would have been rather disapointed to have missed out.

Have yet though to make it down to the NMPTF today. Any chance you can let me know the details please? Time/Cost etc. Obviously i’m missing something as I can’t seem to find it on the site…

    Cheers
