Well to be fair, all the elements are authentic. 😀
As a matter of fact, I’m acquainted with someone who has a rather large public profile. I don’t envy him in the slightest. And he has told me more than once that the paparazzi bothers him a lot less than the public. Photographers are, at least, predictable.
Jayce,
What planet are you living on?
To ask the 4th Estate (TV, radio, newspapers) – or even internet Fora – to “respect” is the most laughable thing I’ve seen/read for a very long time!
Sorry, but The World is a nasty place!Resmoroh
And it’s precisely that inability of the media and certain members of the public to know the difference between the want to know and the right to know that has lead us to the Levenson Inquiry.
One might even take that inquiry as a hint that many people find such behavior rude and unacceptable.
While I feel there is merit to the argument that ex-airforce aircraft were built with public money and rendered public service and that there is legitimate public interest in them as a result. I do feel some people need to learn to accept that they are cared for by private owners, usually using private money and that such requests should be respected.
The amount of catty sniping and sense of outraged entitlement I often see displayed by some on here, WiX and PPRuNe appalls me. It’s exactly the type of behavior that leads some owners to tire of public interest in the first place.
If you can’t treat an owner and their wishes with civility and respect, do the rest of us who can a favor and find another hobby.
It’s a even bigger shame it’s sat in a shipping container for 20 years.
Well I’m very happy to bow to local knowledge, Andy. But Redhill was certainly the first thought that popped into my head upon seeing it.
Tack welded!!!
Ah, are those little retaining tabs riveted on then? I couldn’t quite tell from standing underneath it.
I took this picture in June 2009 and it appears to me she had her “legs” in the right place then. Is there something I have missed?

The tyres are ‘strapped’ in and the doors tack welded in place. It had its oleos removed when they hung it.
Have a good one, Tim!
Which would fit with V6948.
I was told by a Polish friend living in Germany recently that he knew of one one display at Reichlin along with a Halifax V Merlin. A google hunt turned up a picture of the Merlin but not the Saber. Can anyone confirm?
Actually there is quite a lot of open space on the hangar site that is, or was a few years ago, nothing but waste ground. But nevermind, the Kenley comment was more wishful thinking than a practical suggestion.
I actually think Hendon would be fine if they simply replaced the BoB hall with something bigger and better lit…. preferably not an architectural boondoggle.
I think and could be wrong, but wasn’t the method of blowing a full up Bubble Canopy under British patent by Malcolm? I don’t think any other country had the know how until quite late in the war.
If I was the Director of RAFM and had a huge Heritage Lottery Grant to spend. I’d give serious consideration to moving lock stock and barrel to Kenley. Think of all that lovely empty space where the hangars used to be to slap a shiny new museum building on and a whole active airfield behind it for fly-ins and an airshow…
It’s the old argument/dilemma again; preservation or conservation?
