If the Thunderbolt scene was aired in 1980 I would think this would be more likely to be Doug Arnold’s Thunderbolt which would at the time have been based in Hampshire. Was the P47 green?
What about the Meteor T7 project at Yatesbury??
Stunning pictures Colin, thanks for posting.
I have Janie, she’s gorgeous, and, one day, I’ll be flying her!!! We’re nothing if we dont have dreams!
Good luck to you in flying her, you’re right however she is a gorgeous machine and I’m only a little biased.
Stangely enough my avtar is also of Janie and shot out of the back of the Harvard at the end of April this year.
Especially (and I hope YAK11 passes this on ) a big thank you to Maurice Hammond – for filling the gap left by the Spit at last minute (ie 2 hrs) notice – you are a gentleman sir, and if i ever meet you the first pint is on me
I will certainly pass it on this evening. It was a great show and I’ll certainly be back next year. Thanks to everyone involved.
I have to disagree, please post all the Mustang pictures you can, it’s a wonderful piece of kit….
Don’t say that, some of us have got a shed load of work to do before then…. Has the show season finished yet????
Got a phone line in your part of the world now Janie???
watch out for y11f he can get a bit wild at time, we usually keep him under lock an key
Who me???? Wild????? Never. I’ve escaped from my darkened room these days.
It was indeed a great show and thoroughly enjoyable. Sywell was my partner’s first real airshow and she was thoroughly impressed, having never previously experienced such a thing. This was made even better by getting the chance to see Janie display. She had seen the Mustang take off and land a number of times this year but was happy to actually see her display.
I suspect she may attend a few more shows in 2005.
I was at Earls Colne the day the Rangemaster arrived come to think of it, German registered machine from memory. It will be nice to see one up and about.
Any idea what scheme it was due to wear??
Any Mustang parts let me know, I can’t make it unfortunately…..
1) What’s your earliest memory?
2) What is/are your most treasured possession/s?
3) When you were a child, what did you want “to be” when you grew up? Have you achieved your childhood ambition, and if not why not?
4) What are you wearing right now? And don’t all just answer “clothes”. what CLOTHES? 😀
5) What’s your favourite snack?
6) Do you have any irritating habits? If so, what?
Just for fun…:)
1) Earliest memory was being in the garden of our firts house in Melbourn near Duxford and a sports car of some description passing by, I must have been around 3 at the time.
2) Most treasured posession must be my aviation memories, I’ve been very fortunate to have acheived a lot of what I wanted to do already in life.
3) No idea what I wanted to be, so probably haven’t achieved it. Always wanted to fly in a Stearman and a Mustang though (from the age of 15 anyway). So at least I’ve managed that.
4) Shirt, tie, trousers, socks, shoes, boxers.
5) Smarties
6) I’ve been told that breathing is my most irritating habit, but I no longer have anything to do with that person.
Sounds good to me, maybe something around midday perhaps???
