Anyone got an idea of a meeting point then???
Stupid people bother me, particularly stupid people who have nothing better to do all day than sitting on top of bridges in orange camera equipped vans between Bury St Edmunds and Norwich just waiting for me. That really annoys me.
Had the Mustang been repainted prior to it’s tragic accident? Does anybody have a photograph????
Leave the Ice Tea alone, it’s awful stuff, no idea how they can drink it…. Warm Beer, Cold Tea, what an odd country…..
My Girlfriend now is gaining an understanding of aircraft (she has no choice really..) After the Rougham show where I was fortunate enough to have Big Beautiful Doll turn across the house only to be told ‘how can you tell it’s a Mustang’. This has progressed to the point where 2 weeks ago whilst she was standing in her kitchen with her parents she was able to hear the sound of an approaching Mustang and drag them out into the middle of her back garden to watch said Mustang circle her house twice before continuing it’s journey home. I was not at the time able to prompt her that the Mustang was approaching as I was slightly closer to it than she was… Proof indeed that my aircraft obsession is rubbing off on her.
Visited Duxford in 84, got talking to a guy there who lived locally and who could drive me there every week and then joined DAS working initially on the Viscount. From there I got to meet a few people who have helped me out along the way to the point where I now spend most weekends on a small grass airfield in Norfolk helping out where I can…
I don’t explain it, I just zip my up my comfy raincoat pick up my notebook and wander off to the nearest airfield…..
Can’t think of any aircraft in the area but there are a couple of aviation museums in the area, one at Parham and the other at Thorpe Abbotts. In addition there is still the idea of establishing something at Bent waters, could be worth contacting them to see what the plans are. Is Duxford not still a possibility? I used to travel there every weekend from the Ipswich area.
I know the place, other than to drop off a couple of Hurricane panels I’ve not been there since the Yak 18 first arrived.
Red things with smoke, now fly Hawks I believe, you must have seen them
Don’t think I do, seen the aircraft a few times, looks very nice, where’s it based?
Which Mr Morgan would this be?
Very nice airfield, a little short for the B24 now. Has a great atmosphere and is well supported by local pilots, there is very often something of interest going on there. Plus excellent food, what more do you need.
Very good idea Stewart
Good for you, I was there 2 weeks ago for a while and have been there a few times this year.
