Im looking forward to Duxford now not long is it?

Duxford is fairly long, hence why they have that bus thingy to get lazy people such as myself from one end to the other.
I do appreciate that it’s not as long as it was before the M11 went through it.

    Sympathetic I would think!!!

Do you think this post may flush him out of the woodwork??

Back on topic there was talk of two Mk1’s and a Seafire II awaiting restoration in the UK, I believe one of the Mk1’s even got registered as G-MKIA, however since then it’s all gone quiet

I feel that the influence of a young lady prevents him from having time to post anymore!!!!

Can sort out a bit of a tour of the (‘my’) Museum -Yak11 kindly popped up for a visit recently but i missed ‘im – its not much but its ours….

Will have to organise Ladies Creche for Yak11 and Johns’ Missussses……

I thought the museum was very good and would recommend it to anyone who may feel like being in the area.

As for a Ladies Creche, that sounds like a very good idea, I think Sarah would probably like it to be the Bar though!!!

I’m still hoping to make it over, there is something in the back of my mind however that seems to think that I have had other plans made for me that weekend!!! Maybe I’ll drag her along as well.

This has been covered a number of times. Basically the answer is no, plus I don’t think it was ever there’s, I think they were looking after it for a short time. It’s now at Chino being converted into a 2 seater.

    Yakfan,

What about all of the Pacific Vets who flew 24s, the USAF/USN?USMC operated them in the pacific far more then the B-17.

Besides last night I sat down and came up with three other airframes that could have gone to Duxford, including a LB-30 that was used as a Meat Hauler.

    Cheers Crazymainer

I’m not disputing the fact that B24’s were used in the Pacific, but what would be your reaction if a Museum on a Pacific Island were to be set up and another B24 were to be exported from the US.

So if there are 3 other B24’s that could have come to Duxford why can one of those not be restored by the Yankee Air Force???

At the end of the day the free trade of Warbirds is good for us all!!!!

I’d be interested to know which other B24’s could have come here though?

For years, everybody said that getting gate guard Spitfires out of the RAF would be completely impossible, until Tim Routsis pulled it off………..

Hadn’t Doug Arnold pulled it off a few times previously???

So another flier would have been great here in the STATEs were most of the Ex-24 guys live.

    Crazymanier!

Yes but the whole point is that the B24 is here as a tribute to those B24 guys who never made it back!!!!!!

Same with the B17’s, P51’s etc

If you look through your history books you will see that those aircraft played a major part in shaping history and were at the time based in the UK. England was the last home to many of your fellow countrymen.

OK, thanks, I thought I heard one during the morning, must have been wrong. It was very nice sitting in the garden eating lunch listening to the sound of Carolyn Grace’s Merlin in the distance followed by the sight of the Spitfire flying overhead, shortly to be followed by the sight of Rob Davies turning away from Bury over the top of the garden. Maaaarvelous!!!!
