I will generally check NotamPro if I’m off out and about. I find it reasonably easy to use, looking at a map of the UK and clicking on anything that looks as though it might be close to my route. I then tend to copy and paste this into word so as I can then print it off should it be needed. This incident seems an incredible piece of airmanship!!!!!
Looking at the pics of the underside of the Catalina I can’t determine whether it still has it’s waterbombing doors installed or whether they have been reskinned, on the face of it they still seem to be there.
Was this the dark blue Dutch marked Cat that appeared at North Weald a few years back?
Given the money (must check my lottery tickets!!) I think I would probably start with a big engined (300 / 450hp) Stearman followed by a Yak 11 or a Storch. Not overly keen on the 52 although the TD looks entertaining but then I’ve never flown one.
The Staggerwing I agree is a stunning looking aircraft and extremely advanced for it’s time.
