It’s owned by Peter Meyrick, I think it had been at Sywell, but can’t be 100% sure

That Harvard is the ex Martin Sargeant aircraft (G-BGOR). Lovely to see it out and about again, always did look nice.

This year there will be a Stearman and Tiger Moth gathering on the Saturday and the main show on the Sunday. There is a particularly attractive poster advertising the show on the southbound A11 as well. Looks like a good line up for this year again with many / most operators displaying on a voluntary basis so as more can be raised for the charities the event supports.

Not going to either, you really need to consider the show Old Buckenham that weekend. Looks like it should be a good one.

Murky Waters, wasn’t he a Grand Prix commentator? Or is it the view from Lowestoft Beach this morning?

Of course on the other hand as Fighter Rebuilders have restored this aircraft it is likely to be tested by Steve Hinton, now Steve Hinton is usually one of the pilots at Leg Ends, I wonder what the chances of him displaying it are??????? Just wild speculation on my part, particularly as there has been no official statement from TFC themselves yet, but at least it got people talking.

Is that correct,15 minutes to get used to a completely new aircraft and display it publically, sounds like a recipe for a disaster to me ,

Why a recipe for disaster if you had been displaying similar types of aircraft for 10 / 20 years?

I wouldn’t imagine that MarkV meant that 15 mins before it’s slot time at Leg Ends a new pilot would climb aboard and go straight into a display, however they are likely to be competent to start to practice their routine after 15 mins of general handling.

Of course the other question is how do you get passed by the CAA on a single seater type for which there are no dual trainers? Read the flight manual I guess and then go out there and have a go.

I would think providing the aircraft were in the same category (i.e retractable, supercharged, variable pitched prop etc) the CAA wouldn’t be that interested, the insurance company and / or operator may take a different view however.

Would you need to be passed by the CAA to fly a particular ‘type’ if you had previously flown ‘similar’ types?

If we didn’t speculate then we would not spark off informed discussion that would hopefully help each others learn more about their interest, such as the 3 months operation on a foreign register for example.

Plus what else would we do all day, we might even have to work for a living.
