TB863, after the Battle of Britain Film (sometime between 1968 and the early 80’s although I know it was at Duxford for some of this time) in Bill Francis’s back garden in Southend prior to going to Booker then Duxford for rebuild?

This is very true, I’d like to see a Seafire or two out there, however having in a previous life worked for an owner with a distinctively painted Spitfire I am aware (at that time at least) how difficult it was to get airshow bookings if the Spitfire were not in a camo scheme (not tried to get any bookings for six or seven years now though)

Glad I’m not the only one to think that there is something deeply odd about that machine, full credit for what he’s done though, could you imagine the CAA’s reaction to it if it were over here

It is a shame there are no Seafires about, however from a non enthusiasts point of view they are just another Spitfire with a funny paint job a crochet hook sticking out the back and bendy wings.
It would seem that we may not have to wait too much longer until a Seafire is seen out and about.

Interesting pic Mark, do you have any idea how RX168 is coming along now?
This pic compares nicely with the current state of PP972 which I saw recently and illustrates the differences between Spitfire and Seafire.

You’ve got it Mark, don’t need to post the other pics of it now :p

Who else has got one for us to guess?

I suspect you may very well be right looking at the two pics, however, what happened to it after it went to America is the next question

Nice pic Mark V, shame about all the people draped over the aircraft. :p

Not as such, Jumping Jaques was being photographed from Maurice Hammond’s Harvard. I’m sure these pics will be seen in a magazine that will remain nameless, on here at least. A similar formation was spotted over Suffolk / Norfolk around 4pm, same types, different aircraft.

I’m not sure what the current status is of Lavenham and Earls Colne towers, both were in use as private dwellings at one time, the Earls colne tower certainly being empty by the end of the 80’s.

On the flip side of this a one tower that is lovingly preserved is at Thorpe Abbotts, I visited there last weekend and it’s certainly worth a look (went there again today, but didn’t get a great deal of opportunity to see very much of it, more of a flying visit)

Good idea, I’m told we need new saucepans.

Could always use some of the metal to make a replica P51A

That would be a huge shame if it did get the plug pulled, this forum contains people with a huge wealth of information which where possible is shared freely amongst it’s members, as for where to go next, who knows.
