    They were all -30NT’s with the serial rang 45-11490 to 45-11522 (NZ2401 – NZ2430)

    Oh well it was worth a try, not a great Spitfire expert personally :p I also managed to totally miss the first pic that clearly shows it as a high back aircraft.

    Would it possibly be the ex Doug Arnold Mk16 TE356 that went to The Evergreen Aviation Museum.

    It seems that the runways at Greenham Common were taken up some years ago. The aircraft have been in containers for 11 years without showing too many signs of wanting to come out, maybe Flying A will assemble the aircraft and open their long promised museum, or maybe they will continue to store the aircraft. I guess only one person knows for sure.

    Any idea what is left to be done to the Walrus? I guess a full systems installation, but is there much more to be done? It would make a good project for somebody to finish off, not me though as I have no money, can’t fly and can’t float. It would be interesting to see it out and about.

    Very interesting Mark, I saw the project when it first started but not seen it since. Do you have any more information / photo’s of the rebuild that you could share with us? (or of any of the other D Melton / Charles Church rebuilds).

    The RNZAF started to take delivery of Mustangs in 1945 and the first were en route when the war ended. The aircraft were then stored until they were used by reserve squadrons in the 50’s. A few survived (3 – 4?) one of which we are fortunate enough to have gracing the UK show circuit.

    Oh Dear, with all this going on I’m begining to think it was easier when people painted Spitfires red with a white and blue stripe, or some other similarly attractive civilian scheme. :rolleyes:

    Good to hear that he’s out and about in it, evidently it was too nice a day to work again then. Certainly putting in the time to master the aircraft can’t wait to see him display it.
