It will preserve the airframe though, when it deposits all its oil down the outside of the fuselage each time you start it. I feel sorry for the volunteer that has to clean all that off.

Sounds good to me whatever you are on about. what’s a 3350
Big oily thing often found haning off a Skyraider, now there’s a money saving idea.

Has the 3350 arrived for it then????????:D
Surely a 4360 would be better. Could always hack lumps off the wings and canopy at the same time.

last time I saw it the engine bay was painted a horrible yellow colour surely that can’t be right, don’t know who the bloke responsible for the work is or I would ask him if I can get down to Duxford soon.
I just assumed that was undercoat Digby, who is doing the work on the Sea Fury these days?

And, according to the BBMF website, Dakota only on the Saturday, with the Dak, Spit and Hurri displaying only on the SundayPoor show, chaps, especially with the Lanc missing the May show due to weather, and the Dak missing Legends.
These things happen, the IWM can’t be responsible for the weather or aircraft un-serviceability (Dak & Legends). Maybe the Lancaster is elsewhere on that date, as it was on the Leg Ends weekend. Can’t see how this can be regarded as a poor show.
G-OYAK got sold as G-IYAK was about 70% rebuilt, even then up until recently G-IYAK had only done test hours and was hangered whilst looking for a new owner. However G-IYAK has recently been sold so hopefully will get seen, and G-OYAK but on a great pairs display with Rob Davies in G-YCII at Old Buckenham last month.
What was the gist of the last couple of posts, this is interesting.
Here’s one of mine
A330, splendid stuff, not sure about that black thing though, but the white one is wonderful, that paint job is doing well seeing as it’s been on there for over 12 years. Had a great deal of fun with that machine, shame it never got to operate as a pair with this one, as was the plan at one point.
Doughnut,
Maybe the engineers were working on the Hurricane in an effort to get it into the air at some point over the weekend, would have been difficult to do that on the flight line. We will all get a chance to see this wonderful machine in the air in the future so I doubt one weekend makes a difference. At least it wasn’t tucked away out of site so everybody who wasn’t in their own canvas enclosure on the flightline got a chance to see her up close and witness the amount of highly detailed work that has gone in to this Hurricane. A round of applause needs to go to those who worked hard on the machine over the weekend rather than beating them up for not putting it out on the flightline.
Did the Liberator make it to Duxford in 1992?? I know it was plagued with problems whilst it was here and I missed seeing it as it always seemed to be stuck somewhere else at the time. Just seems odd as in 92 I would have been at Duxford virtually every weekend so I can’t think why I didn’t see it. Could be that I’d had too much beer however.
Mildenhall 1980, wasn’t interested in aircraft at that time so didn’t take any notice, other that that I guess the September airshow at Duxford in 1984 would have been my first airshow I went to see out of choice.
I knew it, look the undercarriage legs are there but no wheels, watch out for them on a Nova with a big stereo cruising round a town centre near you soon.:D 😀
Ah now I see the problem, isn’t it typical, you leave something parked up and some b*gger steals the wheels and leaves it up on blocks.
