Maybe this was the Rendlesham UFO, or dust on the camera lens. I would go with the majority and say it’s an FW190 scale replica, particularly as there is one flying in Scotland now. Can’t be a T28, not nearly ugly enough.

The Battle of Britain camera ship N6578D was only here briefly, going back to america after filming, now owned by an American owner and called Chapter XI.

Aces High had another camera B25 for Memphis Belle (N1042B) which returned to America in 95 and is up for sale again.

    Preservation at it’s best 😡

This would be Moviemaker II, the camera ship used in the War lover and 633 Squadron, after being left in the UK following filming it was aquired by Historic Aircraft Preservation Society at Biggin Hill and later in 1967 went to the Southend Air Museum. So as it could be moved the spar was cut. After the demise of Southend Air Museum it was bought by Aces High and moved to Duxford and then on to North Weald. She was repainted and generally tidied up in the late 80’s before being entered into an auction in 89 with a sale to a well know UK collector being rumoured. It has sat at North Weald ever since with at one point the story being that it was too rotten to jack up to dismantle. It really is in a sorry state these days and I would suspect will spend it’s last days at North Weald.

Good to see Peter out and about in the Mustang, having spoken to him at Old Buckenham the weekend before his enthusiasm for the aircraft is evident, looks a nice addition to the UK airshow circuit, just need to keep that bare aluminium polished. I hope to see the aircraft again in a couple of weeks time.

It looks as though they went to London City Airport. Chelmsford is too far away for me to go to see aircraft returning from shows, I choose to stand in a Norfolk field and am usually lucky enough to see at least one warbird.

Just a thought, would it be possible you could post some directions, for those of us who will be on a beach (or possibly an aerobatic competition) in Cornwall and not at Leg Ends?

    Ta Very Much

I noticed the hackers work first thing Monday morning, it was such a shock that I thought I’d but the wrong address in so tried it again. Thanks very much to the Key team and the Webmaster for getting us back online.

Old Buckenham was superb, notable displays were:

    3 Harvards
    Staggerwing
    T28
    2 Yak 11s
    2 Mustangs
    3 Stearpersons
A Bulldog being flown as I have never witnessed before.

In addition Will Curtiss threw his Su29 about the sky a bit, Denny Dobson did similar things but with an Extra (would have made me ill anyway). The Turbulent dsplay was interesting to see again.

The weather was superb and it looks as though there was a good turnout to see the show, I’m told at one point the tail back was about 4 miles long to get in. I imagine the charities supported by this event were pleased, here’s to next year.

I will attempt to post a few pics later.
