I always liked the look of the civilian scheme that your aircraft wore when it last flew, other than that I am very biased towards the white La7 scheme but then again that has already been done. I will see what I can find at home. How is the restoration coming along?

Go steady, whatever may or may not have happened was 30 years ago, the preservation scene was considerably different then. As none of us know the ins and outs of the deal then it is unfair to accuse anybody of being selfish. Doug Arnold did an awful lot for aircraft preservation long before most other people even considered it.

As far as i can understand, there is no way Mr.Soplata would part with his aircraft before that date.

He has already parted with a few aircraft in recent years.

I guess it never came across because the owner decided not to. I saw it at Chino in March 2004 shortly before it was sold on to its present owner.

Let’s just have another P-51D instead, so important to the Atlantic, Taranto, Bismarck, Channel Dash and other ‘unglamorous’ but historic battles. Bitter? Moi? :rolleyes:

Thats a good idea, lets pick on the P51D again, how about all those poxy Spitfires that keep getting rebiult.

Probably in a hole…..

I remember the Vulcan with great fondness (for a jet) but can’t help feeling that a lot more good could have been done with that £6m for aircraft preservation in the UK.

Interesting that the programme shows an illustration of a Mustang that looks very much the same as G-HAEC would look when it arrived in the UK 2 years later.
