Using your logic, Russia is controlling Germany right now.

False equivalency fallacy once again .What high ranking position Frau Merkel kept in Socialist Unity Party of Germany? Was she member of STASI ?Do you compere GDR youth organisation to Gestapo ,NKWD or nomen omen KGB my dear (ill)logical KGB ?

Putin was answering phones in east Germany before he quit to start a private law practice.

And your comment is less rude how? I guess we’re cut from the same cloth.

My comment is not rude at all.

Izumo is a really beautiful ship. Hope to see a 40 or 60 ton version of it.

but I heard the deck can’t handle the f-35b blast and the elevators are too small

Really ?? What aircraft were they planning on putting on it ? I mean..lets not kid ourselves.

Really? Remember when Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons? Russia promised to guarantee Ukraine’s borders. Where was Russia’s honour & dependability when it annexed Crimea, sent weapons & soldiers into eastern Ukraine, & shelled Ukraine from across the border? The promise had been made with no caveats about Ukraine’s internal governance, but it was thrown away the moment that it suited Putin to do so.

Russia under its current rulers is ‘honourable & dependable’ only as long as that serves what Putin wants.

I have a hard time believing Russia is considering this after how recently Russia and Turkey were enraged at each other. Plus the fear (justified or not) that this could give the rest of NATO access to their much-hyped S-400.

The S-500 is probably coming along in the next couple years. That will become the exclusive piece when it is out. So selling the 400 isn’t as big of deal when the 500 is coming.

It’s amazing that people who say Putin was in the KGB seem to forget George Bush senior, before he became President of the United States was the head honcho, top man, boss and Director of the CIA! 😀

Putin wasn’t in the KGB for very long. He got a boring post in east Germany. He quit. Then he planned to start a private law practice in St Petersburg where he ended up doing administrative work for the mayor.

Except Russian Federation is run by Soviet high ranking apparatchik KGB colonel .Imagine Bundesrepublik Deutschland run by Heinrich Müller.
Can you name any Bundesrepublik Deutschland leader connected to Nazi regime?

Using your logic, Russia is controlling Germany right now.

You can think that Bigfoot (Yeti, whatever) is real and lives in your treehouse, it does not make it accurate. As Sintra stated, as Spud stated, you can look up as a matter of public record in the SAR reports, your opinion is wrong and the facts are as I listed.

This is why I said agree to disagree. Which makes this comparison a joke and a 1/2.

The real reason why they won’t restart production now is because of cost.

In the case of a CATOBAR aircraft carrier, although it is possible to multiply the supply lines of the catapults, otherwise it is not possible to multiply the machine room, since nuclear reactors, boilers or electric generators has been concentrated in such section of those ships.

Some genius has been calculated that it would necessary to take 12 direct hits from missiles like AS 4 and SS-N-19 to incapacitate such heavies US nuclear aircraft carriers. However I do not know if those 12 impacts should have been concentrated or randomly distributed by the ship to incapacitate the same.

In the case of F 35B, those fighters has been requiring that the aircraft carriers like Queen Elizabeth class are only floating without a high heeling to operate in case that aircraft carrier has been suffering with combat damages.

    Never thought of that one..

STOVL aircraft could abandon a damaged ship while CATOBAR aircraft are at the mercy of the catupult equipment and the time that it takes to get them off. Theoretically if a carrier is on fire, all STOVL’s could abandon at the same time. Saving jets and crew. They could also land on friendly vessels in the area.

A squad of B’s could land on this thing in a war against China

An advantage in an actual war.

    What?

    Rude.

A poster puts some work into a post and you just make some flippant one word remark to try and cut them down.

Same discussion is ongoing on russiandefence, just more serious than the usual trollfest between russianSTRONKists and ‘muricas taking place here.
A.T.M. it seem that a consensus have been reached about some points:

First one, the basic design of MiG-29/35 with 6/8 pylons on the wing, none on the engine pods and one on fuselage is an absolute no go for a 5 gen plane.

The sketch published has instead sparked mixed reactions: most criticized part were the control surfaces the canards and the conventional, tall rudders are considered a great step backward in comparison to the ones on the T-50.

Delta wings coupled with the typical russian blended wing/body, engine pods and central tunnel configuration are instead seen as the only way to get a consistent weight reduction while keeping quite large bombs bay and a good fuel fraction coupled with the lowest possible drag.
A single engine solution would instead require to get back to a conventional fuselage with side/ bottom mounted missiles and bomb bays i.e. much more weight and drag.

Main problem is however that there is not actually a middle class engine of the same technological level of the Objekt 30 in development, almost for what we know.

blended wing/body, engine pods and central tunnel configuration are instead seen as the only way to get a consistent weight reduction while keeping quite large bombs bay and a good fuel fraction coupled with the lowest possible drag.

Funny to watch ppl critique this for 5th gen stealth when this design was listed as one of the reasons why the YF 23 had better stealth than the F 22

You’re right. It would look a bit cleaner without it.

Cool story. So Stovl ops continued while cat ops stopped due to conditions. One for the advantage column for stovl.

On the looks. Yeah i might start to like it more from different angles. Plus i think the thing will sit lower once it is fully loaded with men and equipment. That will change the look a bit.

Finance sets your constrains. But TIMING is EVERYTHING!

As I was reading through the thread I thoug
Queen Elizabeth Class: was it right to go for F-35B over the C?

Obligatory pretty much sums it up. The choice was having a couple of squadrons of more capable aircraft available ONLY SOMETIMES or have less capable aircraft available CONTINUOUSLY. The 2002 decision was fatefull. EMALS was not ready to be considered an option at the time. UK didn’t have the money to bet on the development of EMALS either. The SDR 2010 seems to be an exercise in stupidity. Perhaps they were trying to sell CVF to another country etc(Speculating). STOVL the provides more flexibility for less cost. IMHO the B was/is the right choice.

They say that the catapult allows for a 25% increase in payload compared to the ski jump. How does the SVTOL really compare ?

25% is something but some people talk like its a 50% advantage. They talk like its not even worth having a carrier unless it has catapults. Which I think is absurd.

The QE2. What do people think of the looks ? Its not doing it for me. I wouldn’t say it is ugly but it just looks kinda boxing and boring.
