Just a few last pictures taken at the Thunder….

Wish I could have seen the Sea Fury in the air at the show… but I do hope to see her in the air later this month in Ottawa at the AirRally at the Canada Aviation Museum 🙂

    Scooter..

I maybe attend 3 or 4 local shows a year…within a day’s drive if possible…this one was 9hrs away so that is pretty much the max for me these days…

I think The Windsor Mosquito Group goal is to have a very nice static Mosquito. The workmanship is also pretty incredible

The two P-47’s and single P-51 put on an excellent show with those high speed passes over the tank battle in the field…amazing stuff…I watched both shows at 10 and 2…. 🙂

Some of the best locations do get used by commerical purposes…we tried to photograph from behind the tents and that was no ok with the “rent a cops”…but I still enjoyed the whole show…

    Hi Mike,

Great shots and the I like the extra effect on putting a border on your uploaded prints…The Lancaster looks very smart…

The Anson project looks to be moving along at very good pace..any idea where they will keep the aircraft once it is finished…I don’t think she would like to be in the great outdoors…

And thanks for adding the shots of the Argus..one of my favs..I photographed her when at Greenwood when she was on static display on the flightline side of the base maybe 5yrs ago…

You wouldn’t happen to have any recent pictures of the Argus at Summerside PEI would you..I have never seen a nice HQ picture of than one..

    Thanks for posting…

It would be a 8,200 sq m structure and the Government of Canada provided the $20 million CAD funding for this new Wing in May 2001. I am not sure of what the final cost?

I spotted this set of wings in the new hangar..I asked the guide and he was unsure..I was thinking maybe a Vampire…anyone have ideas?

Sorry about the picture angle but it is not easy to get due to placement of the other aircraft

Yes most definately…I am very happy to see the large Canadair CL-28/CP107 Argus Mk2 10742 indoors..yes they are others in Canada at Comox, Trenton, Summerside but this hangars ensures her survival as many large preserved airframes rarely get a chance to be hangared these days in Canada….

The tour of the storage hangar is guided and takes about 1hr. Apparently the tours will continue until Sept 4th…not sure what the plans are in store (excuse the pun) for the museum after then…but I think you are missing half of collection if you don’t see it..I believe about 40 airframes are in this hangar..

And yes the DC9 paint job survived those last 3 winters outdoors…she was build in 1967 and only flew with the one airline for her entire life…I think she has the highest number of hrs 81560hrs and takeoffs 72467 for an Air Canada DC9.
