Mike,
Any ID on the future Anson project…I did not see that one before at Trenton..
BC
Hope to make it there on the 12th or 19th this month….
Yes I think FM213 uses the Lincoln wheels, brakes and tires combo…
I guess these tires are still in production…and I have seen spare original tires and wheels for Lancaster around but I would guess this rubber is no longer in production…
I know I am a little off topic but it is sorta related to heavy British bomber types….
Here is a question for anyone regarding wheels and tyres for the four engined British types…
Do the Lancaster, Lincoln and Shackleton all use the same size wheels and tires?
Are they the real thing? or Hasting wheels?
The tires and the wheels to be used on the Trenton Halifax…where did they come from?
XM606 looks to be pretty sound…except for the soft tires….thanks for the links!!
Does anyone have any recent pictures of XM573?
Yes XM571 was scrapped in Gibraltar in 09/90
How many flyers are left in the world? Civilian and Military?
Will it be possible to keep her flying since Rolls-Royce ceased supporting the Avon Mk 1 engine that the T4 utilizes?
I wish I could help out the lads at Brunty but the commute “Ottawa to Brunty” would be a challenge 😉
You mentioned that you had three different types of Avon engines on her…are they different Mk’s and any idea how she came to have this setup?
Yes they have done well to keep her in running condition..given that it has been almost eight since her last flight….
Anyone know who looks after all the live airframes at Brunty these days…they have quite a collection..
The Comet at Brunty is a pretty low hour airframe 8,281hrs but part of the reason to stop flying her was that she had a major overhaul pending….I read that she was subject to higher stress loads that your average Comet..in that many of her hours were low altitude etc…
First flight 09/26/63
Last flight 10/30/97
I have never seen the Comet at Brunty taxi…does she do a fast taxi like I have seen the Victor do in the past? Also anyone know how often the aircraft is ground run? It must be a challenge keeping her serviceable given British climate!
