Good eye…I missed it in the dark shadows..
HP Victor Cockpit
Do they still have the HP Victor Cockpit under restoration at Manston? any pictures of that one?
Great pics indeed,, do you use a tripod for the indoor shots?
How do they insure the aircraft that partcipate in the show? Are the owners responsible for getting their liability insurance or is it acquired via the organizers at Brunty?
Was the DH Comet active?
True it is easier to keep the parts if the still attached to the airframe!
Peter,
I guess the panel is pretty complete then,,did anyone ever consider removing the internal fittings to protect and store them until she could be kept in a better environment?
Peter,
Any idea how many Lancaster’s the RCAF had in service in 1964 when they were all SOS?
Peter have any of the instruments been removed and stored to be installed at later
date?
Great pictures,,,Any one have photos of the Canberra WT333 ?
Last RCAF Lancaster Service.
The RCAF Lancaster’s were finally retired from the RCAF on 1 April 1964, after serving for more than twenty years. A number of these were preserved across Canada in different schemes.
Photos of both aircraft taken last weekend at Pearson.
That does sound like encouraging news Peter, will the lancaster be located near the Mosquito that is in the Airport area? I was told of one being restored but I was never quite sure of it’s location.
Hi Peter,
Still hope to see the Windsor Lancaster undercover eventually too. Just hope that she never gets as bad as the Toronto Lakeshore Lancaster FM104,,,wow I had a chance to visit her at TAM(Toronto Aerospace Museum) and they have quite the challenge ahead of them…At least the Windsor Lancaster has not be neglected for many years…
I guess a few decisions will have to be made with a number of the taxible airframes being cared for in the UK.
As I guess someday it will become more difficult to keep them active and keep the next generation interested.
Hopefully she will taken of for a number of years to come,,whether that be in static or running condition….
Sounds like she is being well taken care by her crew…
Any more planned restoration projects for 655 in 2004?
Was the engine run on XM655 on the weekend a sucess?
