Yes that’s what I was thinking of. Is the AVPIN fuel the only way that they can start the EE Lightning?

Does the EE Lighting have special fuel requirements. I keep hearing about a shortage of a fuel which pushes up costs for those running or taxying the Lightings?

Maybe those same Concorde parts will turn up at an aerojumble in a few years and the whole process of putting the runnable airframe back together will start again!! too funny and sad

I guess like mentioned earlier the biggest challenge is to get new volunters involved to carry on the torch or keep the engines burning in this case. I am guessing that these taxi demo’s are pretty much a feature that is unique to the UK…I have not see any evidence of it in North America…I would love to see a Voodoo or CF-100 do a fast taxi run in Canada but I don’t think I will be seeing that anytime soon!!

I guess the engines would be serviceable for a number of years if they are run and maintained on a regular schedule, sounds like they are doing a good job at that…do they log the number of hours that are on the engines today? how long was a 301 supposed to go before a major overhaul?

What’s the spare’s situation like with XM655. Any spare large components..i.e engines, undercarriage etc? Can’t be many spare serviceable engines out there? I am guessing that 558 has the biggest spares supply at this time.

Is security an issue with your location?

So the safe ones for now appear to be Hendon, Duxford both being under cover…and as for the outdoors..Newark, Southend, Wellesbourne, Midland Air Museum Coventry and ?

    XM598 Cosford

I first thought XM598 might be on the endangered list but I just saw a picture of the Vulcan undergoing a repaint this year..the paint did look alittle newer!! anyone see her lately?

It does look rather busy doesn’t it but it does get them undercover… good stuff…but hard to photograph for sure.

What does the future hold for the remaining airframes on display outside? The Britannia, VC10. BAC1-11 etc..what’s the life expectancy of a large airframe in the great outdoors these days?

    Scott,

Are all the exhibits eventually going to be kept under cover at the Aeroventure museum?
