S.2B XV350 at East Midlands is in fine condition and looks great in those old RAF roundels..to bad they will not be able to run her up at their current location…
Wow three Buc’s at one location now that will make for one excellent photo op…Is XW544 complete? I have seen pictures of it her on Damien’s website and she looks pertty decent!!
It would be nice to see both Bucc’s doing a taxi run together…
Who owns the Navy Buccaneer ?
I’m guessing that the Brunty Lightnings are still in the great outdoors..are they still planning on putting a roof over them?
And are there any new residents at Brunting this year?
Any chance the Sea Vixen will be taxiible soon?
wow check out that exhaust plumbing…
last of her breed I guess…
What’s on the taxi schedule at Bruntingthorpe this Sunday..?
Is the Vulcan on display in airfix form?
And what is the LVG?
Thanks for the pics…Are the aircraft accessible to the public?
Any developments with regards to the Jet Age Museum situation. I have seen photos of their Buc XX889 and Javelin XH903 at RIAT…both looked great but I was wondering if they have found a new permanent home to store their collection of aircraft..?
How about the Nanton Lancaster FM159..she is being restored to ground running condition?
Peter what are her chances like of someday being returned to the air??:)
NX611
Very interesting discussion..quick question. First I think the taxing and engine run are great..you get a chance to see and smell these old warbirds close up. As for the runway that NX611 performed the fast runs on for the movie is that owed by the Panton Brothers also? Could they not extend their taxi area to include high speed runs once or twice a year on this runway..I read that the Dual Spitfire is towed over to use it for takeoffs
I think there was some discussion about this a while back and it seems that during the eighties they did manage to get both port engines running but the RAF had de-fuelled the aircraft on arrival, so there was only a minimal amount of fuel onboard. The Varsity was drained to provide some fuel but once that was gone so where the engines runs..too bad. I think it was Joe P. who provided the info..
Too bad I would love to hear a Herc run?
🙁
What ever became of the fuselage and cockpit section of TG536. I have see pictures taken in 1986 Yorkshire with what looks like the fuselage of a VC10? firetraining perhaps?
I guess at least she will be earning her kept while
performing Airport duties..and it will stop the birds
for trying to nest!
🙂
Airport duties..does that mean that she will have her wings
shortened just like the DH Comet has? a sad sight indeed to this
old Comet fan??
It’s too bad many of these fine examples are without
their engines..still I guess they could be fitted if
the owner found some and wished it.
I know XS458, XR724, XR728 and XS904 are sometimes taxible..but are any other UK Lightnings in running condition?
