Thanks for the picture.
Has any one see in the cockpit of their swift? how complete is it?
Thanks Roger for the info. I figured there was a Connie Fan out there who knows.
I found this pix on airliners.net of Columbine II taken in 1998.
Roger would you happen have any information about the Toronto Connie CF-RNR L1049 cn 4544 used as a Bar but now closed. Almost sold to Museum of Flight – Seattle but that fell thru. Now status or future seems unknown??
Any ideas as to the last time 48-0610 was flown activity?
I would have to agree with those that I would prefer to see them hung rather than left to the elements. Because it isn’t a death sentence.. They will most likely be brought down someday with minimal damage done to the airframe (assuming that they were done properply in the first place). But that being said I hope more museums don’t jump on the band wagon and start hanging up all their collections. It will start to look like my bedroom from my childhood..
my two cents..
I prefer to see the aircraft original serial # still on the airframe. It’s identity is linked to that number. But I guess at times a pretty plain Hunter can be dressed up abit with a Blue Diamonds paint job!!
For my two cents..I think the YAM Halifax is an excellent recreation. I know it was the one of the reasons I visited the museum two years ago!! and I would return again!!:)
I guess that is a common problem with alot of static airframes. I know that the Canada Aviation Museum had to replace alot of tires before they moved their outdoor exhibits recently.
Would it stressful to move the aircraft periodically?
Glad to hear that the Cosford Cover is go ahead. And yes the Vulcan does look alittle rough but once they get them all in a stable environment, I am sure that they will be able to clean them up.
Look what Trenton have done with their Halifax (it was very rough) so nothing is impossible right!
Will it be a challenge to move those airframes which have been on the grassy part of the museum..I can see the Britannia sinking in pretty deep!
Picture of Bac 1-11
I found this one of ZE433 on Airliners.net.. I always like those colours..
Opps I might 2002 not 2003!
Sorry
Last Flights
I think the last passenger flight of the 1-11 in the UK took place at the end of March 2003 or April 1st.. G-AZMF taking that place of honour!! 🙁
Still 40 years of service for the 1-11 is a very good career for this type.:)
Thanks for the info..
Thanks for great information Joe..It is always great to put to rest rumours and here say.
Peter I guess in our world..all static display aircraft should be given the chance to ground run…
Well especially the Piston powered ones!!
HP Hasting TG517 Inquiry
“do they still fire up the starboard inner engine on occasions???”
Does anyone have any information with regards to the HP Hastings having an engine startups. It would be interesting to see or hear about that?
I have noticed in many photos taken of TG517 that one of the engine props is out of sequence with the other three? I figured that maybe that one was frozen, any ideas?
