[QUOTE=VX927;1221531]VTTSCM.
VTTSCM. Congratulations… When was the compass swing done?
As I understand it an interim swing was done at Brunty which was sufficient for test flying…full recalibration when she flys again,
Ah… So it’s not finished…
therefore she is finished & works..
And it’s therefore… It’s not in “Full working order” I know it’s an insignificant point that I’ve raised, but it just frustrates me that you can come on here and defend it they way you have. The reality of what you are saying is that the lottery gave £2.7million to put the Vulcan back to the state it was before TVOC, VTTS, Walton, the Brunty Boys, (call it what you like) pulled her apart in the first place.
For your info.. as an ex-BAH Volunteer I can tell you she was far from in “Full Working Order” there were systems on her that had stopped working and she was carrying a number of faults
After all… She was in “Full working order” when she arrived at Bruntingthorpe.
She wasn’t, she needed a Major as she only had 11 flying hours left .
When she went into the hangar 7yrs later she was not in anywhere near in full working order
The point is you’re splitting hairs. It might say “to full working order”, but to me and the average man of the street, that mans flying… At least to the point where she has a permit.
That was not, as I understand it, the HLF’s take on the situation, by their definition..“Full Working Order” was complete just short of flight.
If you go back and read through the thread properly, I don’t think you’ll find anyone objecting to the cost of qualified engineers… Engineers cost what they cost. nothing you can do about that. But when you have marketing staff, PR, Promotion who wouldn’t know how to promote a garden fate
Are you saying that their PR Company are incompetent? I think that this smacks at LIBEL, I hope that Paul Muckle and his employers don’t read this post or you could be in serious trouble..
If they had, then that list of companies that were so desperate to sponsor the Vulcan
The list of companies that have & do, support her stands at around 250….. OEMs or had you forgotten them??
I notice you didn’t comment on the main thrust of my post as follows…
2] In so doing the project has the distinction of being one of the 1 in 4 HLF projects EVER completed and brought in on budget, in other words as far as the HLF is concerned this project is an outstanding success.
3] The return to Flight part is a problem for TVOC not the HLF.
I wonder why?.. because you can’t refute what I say can you??
😉
a formal investigation seems to be a bit extreme? i mean what have they actually done wrong? the HLF gave them money to make her fly and she has flown, albeit only once but none the less, she has flown!
This is not quite a true statement. the HLF gave the trust £2.73million to return the airframe to Quote
” FULL WORKING ORDER” not flight as this contravenes their charter/rules. therefore:
1] A state of affairs exists that proves that TVOC has succeeded in doing what was required by the HLF, she is in Full Working Order ergo ’cause she flies.
2] In so doing the project has the distinction of being one of the 1 in 4 HLF projects EVER completed and brought in on budget, in other words as far as the HLF is concerned this project is an outstanding success.
3] The return to Flight part is a problem for TVOC not the HLF.
4] the C**P spouted here and elsewhere about salary costs is ridiculous because they had to employ fully qualified aircraft engineers, you know what they cost, and one of the CAA requirements was NO VOLUNTEERS allowed on the airframe what so ever.
I could go on but I can’t be bothered except to say I hope she flies again soon so I can see a return on my investment.
PS a little birdy has just told me she had a fault free full engine run this morning, sorry yesterday morning.
😀 😀
Also might i suggest that a remaining member of the committe may be inclined to paint a different picture so it appears there was nothing more to it.
As I said this is a club matter but I will ask…
Old Buckenham is in Norfolk and is the home of some nice Stearmans amongst other things.
ta… now I know
I think most people had forgotten about it ! – until you reminded us to!
Afraid it hasn’t… David
I was told at Old Buckenham airshow it wont fly untill September.
‘Scuse my ignorance but where is Old Buckenham and by whom??
My contacts say Aug..
it would help the case if these reasons were spelled out on the site. no information leads to conjecture. just to say someone (in this case the chairman) has resigned for no given reason what would you think.
it is also on the tvoc site it doesn’t say chairman of what…….surely you see how this sort of thing can be misconstrude…….
the less information given doesn’t help the cause IMO.
anyway as you rightly say Geoffrey is now free for whatever reason to do what he wants to do, be it work on his hunter or help us with our (and his) beech 18.
The following is a quote from a member of the VTS Club Committee….
Mr Poole has resigned as chair of the Vulcan to the Sky Club of his own free will, and contrary to the beliefs of certain rumour mongers, he was not pushed & there is no conspiricy, and as such this the business of the club and the club alone…. it will not affect the running of the club and definitly not affect the Project in any way shape or form.
It appears there has been a large amount of S**T stirring over this unfortunate state of affairs so perhaps it can now be put to bed and forgotten about??
My case rests!!!!

What, so you’re saying that if you were still in the area, you’d come to Bruntingthorpe and beat me up?! Pretty much everything about the project has put me off, the secretness etc, making people pay to see an aircraft which they had already donated money for etc, plus the completely idiotic comment from the chief engineer who said that the air difference between outside the hangar and inside meant that when the hangar doors were opened the aircraft would jump off it’s jacks (didn’t seem to make a difference when I drove past it on weekdays when it was still on it’s jacks and the hangar doors were open) showed me that my money would be better off with someone else.
AAAAH all is explained…. you have been around Texan Tomcat and Phil Turland too long you are even parrotting their posts of 12-13months ago when they were asked to vacate the hangar some 4weeks after the agreed date they had made with TVOC.
As to beating you up? this actually highlights your immaturity.. sensible adults don’t get into fights, they discuss things..
Secretiveness?? did you ever go to the hangar and ask to have a look.. Denis is there and quite knowlegable about all aspects of the project and would have gladly expained all things to you..
Paying to see the aircraft??? tell me have you ever been to Ironbridge museum for instance or any privatly run charitable institution and not had to pay for the privilage……I think not…… as to 558? all donations{for that is what they were} went towards the matched funding required by the lottery grant, how else were they to raise the said matched funding????
Suggest you go and talk to Denis in the hangar, and tell him I sent you..

I posted the picture as a bit of light humour, up until very recently I actually supported the Vulcan project. The modified photo I posted was put up in it’s original form on the TVOC forum by a member there without the serial changed as an example of ‘what might happen’, which is the same as what I did, and wasn’t meant to put down the work of any engineers/volunteers etc working on the project
Humour like that at this late hour is not appreciated… just because one idiot, who’s to say he/she was a member… a member of what??, posts a picture like that, you don’t have to compound it by actually inserting the designation, and becoming an even bigger idiot…. The Bruntingthorpe community has taught you better than that I would hope.. it’s a pity I no longer live in the area, having just moved house, I would have been quite happy to show you the error of your ways.
Incidentally what has the project done to you to make you a no longer supporter????
:diablo: :diablo: :diablo: :diablo:
Cypherus,
Rlangham,
Flipflopman….. leave um alone, one’s a silly old fart who hasn’t yet worked out who is who on the project, who I think had better not get anywhere near Rusty ‘cos she is not happy with something he said about her a couple of weeks ago, which was totally wrong, for which I believe she has not yet had an appology!!!!
And the other one is a wet behind the ears kid who has ideas above his meager station and cant take what he gives out..
:diablo: :diablo: :diablo: :diablo:
….. Robert resigned when he became Project Director and Rusty never was a trustee…as to the rest I claim the 5th on that….
.
If Rusty had been a trustee we wouldn’t be in the bloody mess we are now 😀 😀
😀
Look harder then.
World help, Peter, if you are a bit more specific! e.g: ‘Anyone know about the Vulcan cockpit in the background of pic No.3.’
Whoops…sorry didn’t see pix3
Probably XM652 as both at Welshpool…. good old Google
I would hope that Felicity Irwin is now back from holiday in France and doing her utmost for the cause at this critical time!
NOPE last I heard from a friend who works at Brunty yesterday…..she is still in France…
Can anyone Id this cockpit section?
Looks more like a Buccaneer to me matey….. clues in the web address 😀 😀
