Why should it be so difficult? No matter what the subject, the BBC are obliged to tell the truth or suffer the loss of their credibility. And that, is what has happened.
Which is why, if you have the time, it pays to gather your news from more than one source, and attempt to draw your own conclusions from what you hear, see, or read. All state run news agencies are ‘obliged to tell the truth’ and they all claim that they do. IMO however, it doesn’t necessarily follow that they are.

In order to bring about real change, the bulk of electorate must take part in the ‘democratic’ process. At this moment in time, I don’t believe that this is the case. With very rare exceptions, the turnout in any election in recent times, is very poor, and that should be a major worry for all the political parties.
I agree that real change is necessary, but if the electorate feels so disenfranchised, and disconnected from their government, the whole electoral system, is in danger of becoming even more moribund than it appears to be already
I’m no expert in this kind of thing, this is just my own take on the subject, I’m quite ready to learn from those better informed on the subject than myself

I actually have one of those Iraqi 737-800 models, courtesy of a good friend of mine from Serbia. As you say, it wears the usual livery. I have to say that the colours on the CRJ look very nice.
Isn’t this livery more likely be an interim one?
As a reasonably regular contributor to the BBC I guess weโll have to disagree! ๐
Yes, I guess we’ll have to. ๐

Any output from a state run news agency, has to be treated with a little skepticism. IMO, the output of the BBC is no exception.

 Go for it GA!!
I notice that no one has commented on this item from yesterday (well not that I can see) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21614086
Oh sorry I forgot, the BBC is not a trusted source and people donโt look there!!
Well, as I said earlier, the demographics have already been irrevocably changed, these very recent figures not withstanding.
I don’t quite understand your comment ref the BBC.

Well apart from the fact that all this talk is overblown nonsense, we would be in far worse shape if we had not benefitted from the experise and knowledge and sheer hard work of thousands on immigrants over the years. And I suppose to put it in perspective the British influx of the Asian sub-continent, parts of Africa and Australasia and parts of the Americas was not entirely a bad thing!!
I’m not arguing at all, that all immigration has been detrimental to the UK, it would be foolish for anyone to do so. I have the utmost respect for those immigrants who have come here, often with skills that the country has needed, in some cases they have set up their own businesses, providing jobs for many people and paid their taxes. I fully accept your point that there has been a migration of numbers of Brits to the regions that you mention. But wether or not you feel that this debate is ‘ overblown nonsense’ IMO, the landscape regarding immigration is very different from what it was even 10 years ago, and more importantly, the publics perception of the topic is different also. The government needs to re-assure me, and others like me, that this situation is well under control, because from where I’m sitting, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Will it be OUR last stand?
I think to be realistic, any chance for a ‘last stand’ has long gone. And I think that, that is true of many different countries, not just our own. I’ll run the risk of being accused of being a racist here, but IMO, no politician had the wherewithal to stand up, and make sure that immigration did not reach the stage, whereby the numbers began to ‘skew’ the demographic make up of the country.
As I alluded to in my previous post, through this country’s adoption of many internationally binding treaties, and other ‘bits of paper’ with regard to immigration, and asylum seekers, there is very little that can be done now, without finding ourselves in contravention of a lot of them. This could result in us having to face sanctions imposed upon us by other nations as a result. It could be argued, that until the appearance of a politician, who is willing to tear up those bits of paper, and live with the international consequences of so doing, absolutely nothing will change. But then again, the last time that a certain European ‘politician’ from the 20th century did that, the fallout was catastrophic for the entire world. It’s an absolute rats nest alright, and that’s leaving aside the effects of globalisation, and the migration of population groups that, that generates, but I think that topic deserves a thread all its own.
