I used to ramp Nortjet, Aviaco, Oasis and Hispania at STN. Aviaco were very nice crews as were Hispania, some of those people used to fly Caravelles for another Spanish outfit called Transeuropa. Nortjet had a very nice livery but they only operated via STN for one summer as they were ousted by Aviaco to Zaragoza and Bilbao.

Isn’t it very sad that in this day and age that a site such as that should be necessary. IMO it speaks volumes about that organization and those who “run” it. As I’ve said before a good indicator of this lots long term prospects for survival will be the world price for fuel……..keep watching!

I too believe in the “old values” of the USA that I grew up with. I don’t recognise the USA that we see today. Does this not raise the possibility that the terrorists have won after all? In so far that they appear to have seriously distorted and debased the great American values that used to set it apart from lesser nations/govts. After all here in the UK we fought a long term terrorist campaign with nowhere near this degree of state sponsored repression. I dont like the current regime in the US and it worries me that through a campaign of fear and disinformation similar to that seen in certain countries of dubious pedigree, we shall see it returned to power, and that scares me as much as the terrorists do. I’m not a political person. Is Stevens a terrorist? Personally I don’t think so, but in this “Looking Glass” world of today some may see him as one. I do think though that this topic belongs on another forum.

Thanks Steve, a real “memoryfest”! Sadly I can remember most of those except the Stratocruiser and Connie but I can remember seeing Britannias of British Eagle and Monarch. And I remember very well my long suffering father
driving me to STN to see the first Britannia Airways 737-200 doing “circuits” just before entering service, we were also rewarded that day by a visit by a Saturn Airways DC8-61 the first time I had ever seen one for real. More anytime please!
