Very nice pics Peter. Thanks for sharing them. I always thought that BEA ‘Red Square’ livery looked good on every type they flew.
Of course you do, shame you can’t have two avatars! 😀
I know it’s sad, but even as a kid, I was transfixed by the Gulfstream 2, which was the most modern version at that time. I used to like the G1 also. The Ford Motor Company used to have 3 G1s based at nearby STN. A Gulfstream 2 belonging to them, but based and registered in the US, used to visit from time to time.
Great images. We definately need a forum section for images such as these. Thanks for sharing.
That Regional livery is very classy. Nice pics.
Love that Gulfstream!
I thought I’d seen this livery before.
Nice one Keith, and thanks. She’s a beautiful bird don’t you think? Eat your heart out Bombardier, this is THE original long haul ‘biz jet’ :p
And this is not to mention the importance of nostalgia for we who worked in civil aviation. These photos can really be full of good memories and emotions. I do hope we get a dedicated sub-forum. 🙂
I second that. For me it’s the STN shots that mean a lot. I had many happy years working there, and made some great friends. I thank those photographers that have posted those STN pics. Dare I say, keep ’em coming?;)
Well done Sarah. As I say, I emailed Webmaster yesterday, and as you say, it looks as though it could happen, I really hope so. I think there is probably a real ‘goldmine’ of images out there, and perhaps some anecdotes as well. Fingers crossed eh?.
Neil.
Not to mention Easyjet, Atlas Jet, Windjet, and so on:rolleyes:
Sarah, I presume that you would click on one of the mods names at the bottom of this page. In all the years I’ve been on here, I’ve never contacted one;)
Love the A380. I do enjoy watching the contrailers over my house, and tracking them on FlightRadar24 at the same time. Courtesy of my partner I was lucky enough to get an iPad for my Birthday last year, so it’s possible for me to sit in the garden on a nice day, and look up and see that Egyptair 777 en route CAI-JFK and track it in real time on radar!
Very nice shots. Is that a distant A380 in that first pic?
Great idea. But can i just say i personally would prefer a subsection to Historic. These are after all historic photos and aircraft now.
Yep, I can also see the logic in that. I can’t believe that the airliners I grew up with, and later worked on, are now regarded as ‘historic’ Geeez, where did all the time go:(
This thread has had almost 400 replies and almost 31,000 views. Just like other oldies threads we’ve had here.
It seems clear to me that old commercial aviation images and threads are of real interest compared to other threads and we should have a forum of our own. The Historic forum is really for military aviation.
How can we go about requesting a special civil/commercial aviation page?
An interesting idea Sarah. Perhaps ‘Classic Airliners’? or ‘Airline Nostalgia’
I think the interest is because alot of us remember alot of these planes from our younger days 🙂
Also it was when airports like LHR wasnt A319 after A320 after A320 after A321 after A319. The variety was much much much better in the old days.
Yep, I agree with you there. But I can also remember moaning at the Trident after Trident movements in those days too. I’d love to have the chance moan about them now;)
