Thanks very much.. It was definitely asscending and headed along the path they all take for the Atlantic crossing.. The landing stack is way off in the distance on the otherside of the motorway. Hey I’m a Luton boy.. Those gulfstreams will be a never ending theme :p

    ciao!

    Great stuff:):)

Some very nice shots my friend. Those Gulfstreams are gorgeous. Would that BA 747 in one of the last shots be a BA LHR departure or in the hold? I can remember once seeing LTN several times from a BA 777 as we went round and round for what felt like ages. I flew on the all over orange Easy a couple of months ago, NAP-STN. Keep those ‘Gulfs’ coming:)

That sounds a little more optimistic! Not so positive is the presence of the PPV in your coalition government, but then as I’m not a Dutch citizen, it could be rightly argued that its none of my business. Please keep us posted on the rescue plan. Thanks.

A very nice image. I’m so glad that as a young enthusiast, I was around to see these lovely machines. Happy Days indeed!:)

I’m so sad to hear this news. Is there any chance that it can be saved as a going concern? Collections such as these need to be kept together. It would be nice to think that KLM and perhaps the Dutch Government could be involved in a rescue, but I guess that’s wishful thinking on my part. I was involved with the Duxford museum for around 10 years, on the restoration and upkeep of the Monarch Bristol Britannia that is on display there. I know how we volunteers would have felt had we found ourselves in the same circumstances as the poor folk at Lelystad. I sincerely hope that a solution can be found in this matter.

Well the SAS DC7C was my first guess, but I wasn’t sure when SAS phased them out. Weren’t the Icelandair 727-100s combi versions?

Some cracking shots. I just love those piston propliners, especially the Connies and DC6s. Thanks for sharing.

Both AI and Boeing have always wrung every last cent out of each of their designs, and there is nothing wrong with that. I do believe that AI have blundered with the A330 P2F, a decision that I think will come back to haunt them. I also suspect that AI have got a plateful, what with still playing ‘catch up’ with the A380, and grappling with the A350XWB.

Very nice indeed Keith. Can you imagine in 1989, telling a plane spotter in Opa Locka, that within 20 or years or so, his apron would be crawling with Antonovs!

Some very nice shots there. That Malaysian livery sure looks tired these days.

Adrian, I think you’ve cracked it with that Icelandair DC6. I did think that it might be a little late for the SAS DC6/7Cs. I’m glad that I was around to see the Heathrow that wasn’t swamped by ‘twin podded, winged blandness’, and to think that I used to moan after the sixth consecutive Trident;)

CD, you really seem to have a handle on this, so I’ll ask you. Why were these, or similar rules and regs not imposed at the birth of the Euro. IMO it looks as though this is another attempt by EU politicians, to bolt the stable door, well after the horse has become but a distant memory. Who had the most input into the original formulation for the single currency, was it qualified economists and financial ‘wizz kids’ or myopic, self serving politicians? Personally, I suspect it was the latter, but I’m more than happy to be corrected. Sorry its answering your well thought out question with another.
