Great images of some beautiful aircraft.
Nice to see some EMA images. I don’t get up there much these days. There was a very good enthusiasts shop in the terminal and the guy that ran it was a real gent, I wonder if its still there.
Did someone mention CAAFU?:D
Yup, thats the baby! By the time that I started my ‘illustrious’ career at STN. The 748s were blue, and then moved house up north I think.
Love the ‘Lunar Lufthansa’ The Etihad and MEA liveries look good on all their types. That Saudi SP is a real cracker.
Do we now have a Norwich – Casablanca scheduled service??:D
Always nice to see a DC10, and some DC8s.
Very nice. Love that Continental ‘Retro’ and the Spirit livery, very classy.
Great snaps, as has been said, its good to see an A310.
Some good shots there.
That 727 is a real rarity.
In the same colours as the Princes…
Yes, that looks about right. I’ve never seen that one before. BTW, you have a very brave mother in law, photographing Middle Eastern An12s:)
Yes, the CAAFU had two 748’s for calibration. G-AVXI & G-AVXJ. Worked there for 6 months during my apprenticeship to get some VP propeller experience for my licence. Had a couple of nice trips in the jumpseat during calibration at LHR with a nice low level ciruit over the city for each approach!
I’m ashamed to admit that I can remember seeing their Hunting Prince aircraft passing over our house, about 3 miles as the crow flies from STN, very frequently. I assume that they were based there at that time? I know that the 748s which came later were.
I’m much obliged.;)
Very nice images,………sorry, still drooling over that Falcon;)
Just to add to Qantas’s current turmoil, I believe they’ve had another problem with an A380’s engine, which landed at Dubai en route from Singapore to London after a mid-air shut-down related to oil feed issues.
Well hopefully the press and all the other ‘Dismal Jimmys’ will remember that this is an engine problem, and in no way the fault of Airbus.
