I was quite pleased with what I came away with these being an Andover Yoke, Propeller hub and a nice large reference book on the Sud-Est Caravelle. I must say not as many stalls as I’ve seen there before in the past but in the mix were quite a few quality stores which in turn is much better than quantity. The museum were selling some surplus bits a pieces from the Comet 2 which they recently acquired. As usual most of the museums cockpits were open for inspection and available for sitting inside. Similar to visits in previous years I was left with the impression that this was more of a buyers market as opposed to a sellers market as there didn’t seem to be a lot of customers, I would be interested to read any thoughts from the stall holders. The sun shone for this event, great location on an active airfield coupled with the museum and friendly staff. Great breakfast at the airfield cafe ! All in all it was worth the 200 mile round trip! As far as aerojumbles go all I can say is use it (if you can) or lose it!
Thankyou to the event organisers !

    Hi Fly.buy.
reference the Comet 2 parts there appeared to be some nice pieces from hatches, wing inlets, wing panels, interior passenger trays and even a passenger seat and all very reasonably priced. didn’t see the Andover yoke though must of arrived to late. although there was a good selection of jet era Grips.
Like you say a good venue with loads to explore and see ie cockpits etc..
And worth the early start and the 2 hour drive..

    Hi
Did anyone else go today? what did you think?
Did anyone get any bargains, i personally came away fairly happy as managed to get hold of a nice MG17 gun relic apparently from a ME109, also a nice framed Robert Taylor print “Battle of Britain VC” James Nicholson 16th 1940. pleased as this print appears to be getting harder to find these days. (A big thank you to both the sellers for letting me have both these items a little cheaper than originally priced..
Also as always Great to chat to some of the forum members.
Like you say (Runway06) long live aerojumbles, as getting less and less.. lets just hope if Brenzett comes back that it is well supported.. for sellers and buyers a like..

    Just confirming.

Had a look through my collection of Master pictures and found two that show that particular type of hub fitted.

Thank you for the confirmation and sparing the time to look it up. very much appreciated..
    Thank you to all..

Very disappointed as im unable to make this well organized and terrific event. as unfortunately im double booked.

Anyone who hasn’t yet attended please do yourself a big favor and support the Bomber boys and the very enjoyable Wings museum..you will need to allow some 3 hours plus to take it all in.

Fingers crossed there will be another one in the near future as i have a couple of new prints that i would love to get signed..

Big jolly for the formal unveiling of the plaque on the Whale (ex-Mulberry Harbour)

News item in the next issue of Britain At War.

Was at Duxford today but sadly missed the unveiling of the Plaque would of loved to of seen it.. but did manage to go on the mini tour of the Avro Lancaster inside the fuselage. i believe its open for the last time tomorrow during the half term period. well worth seeing as we all know the tail end Charlie was a very lonely part of this aircraft but to actually witness it for yourself really does bring it home..

Another good reason to go tomorrow is to witness the Whale section of the Mulberry harbour a truly fantastic structure that ouzes history.

The first reference I have found to a brake lever on the handwheel is in the Pilot’s Notres for the Anson XII, which states that this version might be fitted with either type, i.e. handwheel lever or lever on engine pedestal as on earlier Marks.

I would bet that all subsequent versions would have the brake lever.

The dual columns were probably an option on most Marks, depending upon the aircraft’s role.

    Many thanks Air Ministry.

Would anyone know what year the mark X11 Avro Anson would of started from..

Good question re Anson yokes: Also to throw into the mix I believe that there were two different design type yokes for the Anson, I believe the MK1 was a different shape to the later marks.

    Hi FLY.BUY

Definitely a tough question as this was asked in an earlier post on this thread, for a popular yoke there is a lot of mist relating the subject. going by the earlier post the different shape appears to relate whether it was British or Canadian built.
The reason for asking the original Question is i have the double control type column with the brake cable coming out of the top of the left hand pilot side column for brake levers. and wondered what year and variant this type of set up may of started from. i would imagine the brake lever type control yoke would be Gold dust, i have the right side..
    Over to Ian..

    Hi All,
Would anyone know what mark Avro Anson (Year) that they first introduced brake levers to there control yokes.

Also reference the dual control columns and single control. would these of been used from a particular year? or were they set up for training methods?

Thank you in advance for any info given.

    Hi Hawker,

It doesn’t look like any German bomb rack I’ve seen, German bomb racks were more electrical where as this looks more mechanical to me, could it be part of a landing gear lock or something along those lines? Are there any R8-88 numbers? I would have expected to see some Junkers anodising somewhere on the part. I am sure Andy would know if it Ju-88 or not.

    Hi Redhillwings

Thank you for your reply.i will have ago at the landing gear lock.. unfortunately there are no numbers with reference to the R8 type, the only number letter is a capital B in a square outline. ref to the anodising there is a yellowish finish on parts (sorry camera poor quality) but not quite as prominent as you would normally expect with the Junkers type aircraft. i will now discount bomb rack i have to admit i couldn’t
find anything like it in that area of the aircraft.

Again thank you for your help in trying to i.d.of this part..
