Well done mate

Brilliant shots Si when did you go two Victoria BC? its a brilliant place did you go to Vancouver? Like the BAe 146 and the Beavers:cool:
James
James,
I was out in Victoria two weeks ago, what a beautiful part of the world. The sea planes were awesome with more movements into the harbour than at the main international airport. At around 1600 every day there were Beavers Otters and Twin Otters landing and taking off every few minutes whilst boats dodged in and out of the landing and taking off area. I have over 7GBs of photos, so I will be posting some more shots when I get a chane to process them.
Cheers for the comments
Si
James,
Welcome to the Forum.

Lukeylad,
What date did you fly? I may have a photo of your aircraft arriving into BRS.

There is no other answer for her to give, she works to company policy, they work to CAA policy.
1L.
Isn’t that what I said, company policy answer?
Thank you for the answers 1L much appreciated, however I am still not at the point of eating my shorts!

I dont think that anyone would regard a camera as an electronic hazzard to flight controls, i suspect you might find that it is more to do with not having any loose objects during transitional flight phases – if the captain had to slam on the brakes at 100+mph and your camera flew out of your hand and smashed someones skull / nose / whatever….
Michael
Hmmmm, not so sure on that one Michael; I take your point on loose objects and if that was the case, surely the cabin anouncement would reflect this. I was sitting across from a kid on my last flight from DC who was playing with toys as we took off and landed…..low flying Lego…ouch!!
Adam,
As I said last night at BRS….WOW, leaps and bounds springs to mind! Some really great “Creative” shooting mate. Love the 1st VS 744 and the second thread the 2nd BA 763. By the way I know people sometimes are very much against aviation photographers invading their space but there was no need for the guy seated at row 5 of the Thomas Cook 753 to make that gesture at you;)
Sam,
lovely AIRCRAFT shots, not too sure about Mr Cone Head, Paul, you must have heard of DEVO….whip it up!!!!!;)
Si
Lovely shots Paul, That Graveyard shots is great…now that’s where I would like to end up (happy kind of a chap ain’t I). N441QS and the Metro almost head on are my favourites.

Si
Adam,
Some really nice clean images there…well done.
Si
Kev,
The TUI shots are nice….sharp with the bright yellow fuselage against a nice darkening background…I like it!!!
One day intend having a beer in that pub with PNM and anyone else who cares to join in!!

Some nice shots, agree with Manc the weather just did not help you on this occasion, however when you have blue skies are great planes…well it’s worth it! I like the AJM shot with the gear not quite taking the load and the reversers just deploying. Again don’t worry about the weather, by shooting in all conditions it can only improve your photography.

Tommy,
I am sure it is airline dependant; I have recently flown with BA who allow the use of the pda / phone in flight safe mode, however Easyjet would not allow the use at all, recent experience with Virgin also did not allow there use during the flight. This leads me to something that really infuriates me…….use of digital cameras on aircraft; I really enjoy taking photos of the departure and landing, however on my recent trip back fro Washington the flight attendant gave me a right rollocking for producing my little kodak point and shoot whilst taxing out for take off. I duelly obeyed and switched it off and once airborne I asked her what evidence there was to prove that a Kodak Digi camera would interfere with the aircraft systems of a B747-400. Got the usual “company policy” answer so took it a little further and wrote to BA Technical Director and Training Manager, but have not had a reply back….I wish they would hurry up as I am flying to Vancouver on Sunday!!! Anyway we use cameras all the time in our Naval and Airforce aircraft (see here: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=71136) with no ill affects to the systems, I am still to find any evidence to prove that a digital camera will cause an aircraft system to malfunction. Incidently I pointed out to the cabin crew that the in aircraft mobile phone located between Premium Economy and Business Class is always on receive mode, even during take off, landing and approach. If anyone out there can point me to a paper written by a credable source that proves digital cameras interfere with aircraft systems I will (as bart say’s) eat my shorts.
Rant over
