Nice shot of Stew in his Sea Fury. Here’s mine (this week).

Very nice…of course she’s never offered to give ME a ride.

    Never been in a Chipmunk.

Hell, never even sat in a Chipmunk.

No point…just the usual slagging that has become GD

I’m also going to have them send a thinner lining, as the helmet fits just a bit too snug.

    Let’s see…oh, that little brass thingy…W362 SR PATTERSON…Yup, that’s me.

Ivan and Sandy were great to meet at Oshkosh, and their excitement (and yours) over this product is why I bought it.

Sorry I missed dinner in London. It would have been fun slagging off Melv.

Thanks Janie, I’ll send them an email. I was just curious about your experiences (helmet, that is).

The sound quality of the headset and boom mic is fantastic. The sound is clear, crisp and very loud (which is why they’ve installed a volume control on the side). Also this helmet is much more comfortable than my traditional “bone dome”. The kevlar shell really takes the weight out, and it just plain looks better when flying the T-6 or Fury.

Aren’t all Yak 11’s fantastic then????

I’ll let you know in a few weeks…

According to Dennis Sanders the Yak 11 is Sea Fury fast, with good flying qualities and the landing characteristics of a heavy Pitts (somewhat twitchy).

    Steve,

Any idea what engine is being used in the Yak?

Yes, it’s a P&W R-1830 from a DC-3. The original engine was sold to Kermit Weeks years ago when the project first began. The prop is a cut down DC-3 prop (Hamilton Standard)

And there was me thinking that three blader was going on the Cub… :diablo:

Steve – quick question about the Cub. ‘Clipped Wing’? Wassat all about then?

The clip wing Cub is a factory approved STC that reduces the wing span by one bay, moving the ailerons in much closer to the fuselage. I believe it removes about 4 ft. from either wing, which is fairly significant. Advantages are a much improved roll rate, stronger G loading, and all around more “positive” handling with the higher wing loading. This airplane is being built as light as possible, so she should be a good performer. Non electric, and original cub panel and paint scheme. Should be very fun this summer.

The Sea Fury has an electric standby hydraulic pump, so we can fold the wings in the hanger. Also very useful for doing gear retraction on the jacks.

The Yak is really quite stunning, being painted in a WW2 winter Russian scheme. Lots of white, blue and red. I’m really looking forward to taking her to some shows this summer. I’ll get some photos up next week. I knew if I didn’t mention the Yak someone would ask about the oversized Cub prop!

A Sea Fury video? I’ve actually been looking into those small “helmet” cameras that you see on ebay. Might make for a fun little film.

…I am disappointed not to have managed to join the RAF (Rearwin Air Farce)clique last Saturday….tc

It’s NOT a clique, it’s just a group of close knit friends who enjoy being elitiest and slagging off anyone not deemed worthy of inclusion.

There, I hope that clears things up concerning this clique thing.

Sorry I didn’t hear about the one on ebay sooner, as it looks perfect. And yes Daz, that’s the one I’m after. Fancy some time in a Sea Fury?

    A nutter is a nutter…plane and simple.

I have patience for nutters, as long as they don’t profess to be expert in every topic known to man. When nutters start to influence the young and weakminded I feel we all have a duty to call them out, before false or misleading information becomes fact.

Haven’t taken their medication? Not really my fault.
Not very sympathetic or understanding? Tough.
