Superb top quality shots. Thanks for sharing Frank – did you record the dates when these were taken? Interesting to see that Tu-134 in an experimental Aeroflot liivery.
It may be sad, but this is commercial enterprise today that we just have to accept. Much like Croydon Airport’s Terminal building being turned into a hotel.
As long as the infrastructure of the hangar doesn’t change and its historical significance is retained, this should not be a problem. It is indeed a great shame that no further aviation use can be made of it, but better it’s kept in commercial use than broken up and a housing estate built on the ground.
Ha ha, I love it! Don’t think he’s discovered Google yet!
Noooo wouldnt bother with a military scheme, nice civilian scheme 😀
Quite agree – PRU blue overall is boring and there are sooo many camo Spits flying. I always liked this smart scheme G-ALGT wore when with RR. PS853 is on the civilian register as G-RRGN, so why not use it?

Must admit I would like to find the yellow one too – it’s rather elusive online it seems?
Here you go.

I’ve still never seen this film.
You have got to be kidding James!!!!
Hmm cannot really comment on it, but last i knew it is going well, as for paint why ruin the suprise 🙂
PRU blue overall yet again?
Tony beat me to it, that would explain XR808s’ value,
If only they could keep ‘808 goiing until 2016 and paint it with a gold tail fin, as that would mark an incredible 50 years in service!
The Hart at Farnborough was 1962
Jim
I disagree! In 1962 the Hart wore the serial ‘J9933’. It was not repainted as ‘J9941 until 1964. To enforce that, the Lightnings behind are 92 Squadron’s F.2s and behind those are the all-dayglo red “Red Pelicans” Jet Provosts, so the date is September 1964.
The best I can get…
At this res it looks like Aer Lingus 1960 livery, so Viscount/carvair? Or maybe PanAm DC6??
Sorry for the late response, but I have only just seen this thread.
I have this photo – actually it’s a postcard that frequestly comes up on E. Bay. I think you’ll find the aircraft in question is an Icelandair DC-6B, as these were still being operated into Heathrow until the late ’60s. SAS DC-6s were out of service by then. This shot was taken in October 1966.
Absolutely agree – can’t understand why some people seem to hold him in such esteem. Also I don’t find Miranda funny – she tries to be funny by copying others, then we get canned laughter to try and make people laugh  My favourites were alway Morecambe & Wise, The Two Ronnies, Benny Hill, Norman Wisdom and Tommy Cooper. Any of those were guaranteed to create instant laughter! Today they are all gone, but Michael McIntyre is the best in my mind.

Is that the same aircraft that appeared at Wroughton for the Great Warbirds air display many moons ago?
Yes!
AMB..the program is on Sunday in the US…hence XRZ61’s comment.
Ah, fooled by a ‘Colonial cousin’ with a ‘Bristol’ avatar interloping on a British forum!
It WAS shown last week, rescheduled to late on Tuesday evening on BBC2. There are 22 episodes in this first series, which will take us well into next year.
