Finally found and scanned my pic of the Air Atlantique Dak on the ramp at Luton, whilst I boarded a 737 to Gibralter for ATC summer camp in 1985
Mine is to regain Currency on my PPL (not used for 17 years) and start commiting serious aviation again! 😀
Found the attached photo when searching for my PPL, it shows the old AFT fleet during my spoking/clubbing/eating greasy burgers at the airport diner time during August 1986 😎 . G-MABI was the one that the CFI flew into the ground during his airshow routine practice. G-AVIR was the 172. For some reason we tended to prefer to fly G-BEYM, rather than ‘BI, I cannot recall why?
Not strictly GA, but 2 of my favourite cloud photos, firstly some good ole’ british heavy metal under a leaden sky, taken in the early ’80s, either at RAF Wyton or Greenham Common airshow (probably latter)
Second is the Severn Bridge (original one) taken from a Wessex as we did our overnighter to Culdrose via Chivenor from Shawbury, probably counts as fog more than cloud….
I flew into Hahn once….with Ryanair thinking I was going to Frankfurt….
complete with throne! 😀
Don’t forget that you can spread the cost over a long period, it takes quite a while to build up your hours.
It is horses for courses really, most gliderists and microlighters seem to fall into 2 camps, those who want to be that one step closer to nature, and the others that revel in how cheaply they can get/remain airborne.
There is a middle way….do your NPPL then fly PFA type aircraft, Real flying for less!
If I think about the amount of money that I have spent on RC in the past 10 years, I could have easily got my PPL back and racked up quite a few hours by now!
I’ll be watching from my Office window (overlooking Chiswick Flyover), for a Chipmunk on finals between an A340 and 747-400 then….
I had to watch ‘What Women Want’ so Sky+ed it to watch over lunch today…there must be some sort of irony in there……
I am a bit worried about the 980k near-misses in Hospitals
Does this refer to low-flying Air Ambulances?
Or is it a reference to the femininity of the Nurses in question?

A Carvair, now there’s a thought!
Many a happy hour spent at Southend airport watching them in the ’70s!
If we club together and buy one, can I use it next weekend to clear out my garage and do a tip run? 😀
we’ll have none of that kinda talk, young man!
I think you’ve had one too many, sir…… 😀
Yes it was Pilot, the basic takeaways were:
Other than that if you bought your house at the right time, and the divorce won’t cost much, then dump the family, realise your assets and buy one! :dev2:
