yes lets close all the museums, wrap up the people in cotton wool, but still allow the unhindered free flow of Heroine, crack cocaine, small arms, and automatic weapons into the country……..

    God bless this Govt. 😮

Well, I’ve seen one fly at Manching in person and I have to say that she sounds fantastic up close and looks very convincing both on the ground and in the air indeed. I don’t think you’ll be disapointed by FW’s not inconsiderable efforts. Quality of build is fantastic too. Don’t let the absence of a BMW engine dishearten you, she looks like the Real Mcoy as far as is possible with having to substitute another power plant.

Great news that one will fly at Duxford, for however temporary the duration.

Whilst there I spoke to a German pilot who told me about his last minute escape from the Red Army in his stripped out FW190, with two ground crew in the fuselage and one sitting on his shoulders, all the way back over the Baltic to Germany.

    Thanks Consul.

As this instance involves an individual offering for sale an original bae approved ‘copy’ of the potentially ‘copyright’ image, for which we must assume that the provenance of ownership of the copy image is good, does that not suggest that offering an original published image, of whichever origin, now in your legal possesion and furthermore, that you have not copied, therefore is yours and is fair dinkum to sell even on Ebay??

Does anyone know if the BAE sticker presence means you can’t sell it?

Sounds a bit strange, how could you re-sell even a magazine in that case?

Surely only copying is not allowed if its copyright is owned by a third party, not selling a photo given to you in good faith?

    David is absolutely right.

However… it recently came to light that BAe, when operating Mosquito T3 RR299 fitted a Venom/Vampire nosewheel to the aircraft in order to maintain a supply of usable tyres.

I am sure there was some modification carried out – but it DOES work!

Must have had to put a load of ballast in the nose then Bruce? 😀

    First post on this forum.

I’m currently undertaking a major research project about how fighter pilots in World War One gained their heroic reputations. A necessary element of this research is getting to grips with the ‘Knights of the Air’ mythology – the notion that fighter pilots were the new generation of knights, upholding 19th century ideas of heroism and chivalry in war.

Trouble is, there isn’t a massive amount of detail out there (that I can find at least) about this ‘Knights of the Air’ idea. So I’m asking here whether anybody knows of any literature out there which specifically deals with this particular concept.

Any suggestions, help. comments and ideas much appreciated.

How about Charlie Brown and his B17 and a nice German pilot?

    Try http://www.bilthamber.com

They do a similar product that seems to be very good. I have read good press reports, but have yet to try it myself.

    would this work?http://www.stovebolt.com/techtips/rust/electrolytic_derusting.htm

Yes, of course though a lot of hassle, having tried both the bio-deruster wins hand down for results even grey finish and resists corrosion for some time after.

Maple – Not quite sure where your coming from! Are you an Iraqi or do you have a history degree on the area? You maintain that you know more about it then me – well good on you ! As for being ‘spoon fed’ by the U.K media – would that be the media that was mislead by the government on chemical weapons hitting our troops within 45 minutes or possibly the Mod which engaged in a ‘you tell me a name’ charade with the press until guessed at Dr Kelly. It could also be the same ‘spoon-fed’ media which
upset the Mod with it’s honesty on the treatment of our soldiers in hospital.

As for Saddam – what relevance has he got to this ? The government decided on regime change and the wanted control of oil . No oil in places like Zimbabwe so no intervention – simple as that.

David, I have a new found respect for you!

I think we share very similar views on the unnecessary Iraq invasion, the criminal Phoney Bliar and the rest of his rotten barrel of apples and the least said about the Moron George Bush and his nazis the better.

Kelly slipped on a bar of soap.

Let the Iraqi’s keep their heritage, in fact lets restore their Fury and install it in a museum of their choice in the future, if there is anything left after Phoney and George have finished with Iraq….

Lets hope and pray that Iran isn’t next on their list to be ‘Democratised’ next month…

Thats great! So basically we all agree that its going to be fantastic to see the Vulcan fly once more over our shores. I can’t wait and you lot obviously can’t either.

Though not forgetting a huge vote of thanks to all those who have made it possible and all those hard working folks who are on the job itself.

Well done all of you, you are a credit to Britain.

    🙂 🙂 🙂

Apart from the fact that due to censorship the 1950’s dambusters featured
Lancasters carrying a bomb that looked like an edam cheese! History has always been modified and blended to suit the film maker .

It doesn’t have to now though does it?

In these modern times with vast access to freedom of information it would be rather better to stick to the factual history as is currently known rather than go down the Titanic Pearl Harbour complete and utter nonsense wilth bells on route don’t you think?

Your suggestion is noted. However with the momentous date of the roll-out fast approaching it’s hard to see what purpose would be served by closing a thread that will, inevitably, reopen within days.

It would though prevent yet more ill informed potentially libelous, childish tittle tattle from being added to the previous out pourings of the obviously moderator sponsored anti XH-558 thread.

Perhaps a clean sheet thread thread would allow a period of reflection by all?
