Don’t suppose Mr Grey is doing just that with his M22? :diablo:

Anyone know its current wearabouts and status? Its not buried in Area 51 is it?

BTW: is the ‘new’ TFC XIII just getting a repaint or is it a bit more in depth than that?

Sometimes Bruce, in the knowledge of what has gone before, somethings perhaps maybe best left unsaid…..

Cue a flood of negativity from the unusually large numbers of professional business analysts whom frequent this forum. 😀

    Ahemmmm……..

What is it with these wind and wires types?

I am not meaning to be negative – really I’m not, but I do wonder if large pledges like this are a bit like the Ebay bids for the Harrier, or indeed for the Blackpool Vulcan. Anyone offer any insight?

    Art? ART?

In another 50 years this component will likely have thin but robust provenance for a serious rebuild to airworthyness?

    Hi Mark 12,

Was my guess about the stumpy barrells correct?

Whilst we’re in Spitfire mode, the latest desert HF Spitfire has a four cannon wing set-up IIRC. Can’t remember the wing designation b, c etc.

Some IX’s I have seen with two cannons have stumpy redundant barrels next to them. Were these intended for two additional cannons, but deleted, leaving the stubs as dumb to save re-design or what is the correct story?

    Thanks

I’m amazed that FLYPAST magazine are content that this thread is still alive and with full Moderated blessing on their flagship forum representing their commercial interests. Can’t be good for the business if some of the vocal experts are found to have been shooting from the hip? ………

Perhaps an off topic forum Sunset would be more appropriate for this post now given the bordering on slanderous nature of several posters……?

We are very very lucky that TFC came into being and yes we probably largely take it for granted now.

Trade, swaps and surprise visitors are big bonuses too.

All a huge personal cost and probably over and above the gate receipt share.

As well as the human cost………

But, PLEASE PLEASE! pleease!……finish the Beaufighter and let her at least fly once over these shores again.

    A very important Aeroplane indeed.

Yet another thread on 558 and all that is involved, starts with an innocent query, moves to the ‘I know more about it than you do’ dick dance which involves copious amounts of personal attacks and ends up going way off topic.

As far as I can see (and I class myself as a very inexperienced person) they tried and are near failure but appear not to be going down without a fight, even if it fails at this point in time someone who see’s the potential will probably be able to pick up the torch and finish the job, maybe not this year or maybe not the next but one thing is for sure it is hard to ignore the amount of work and effort that has gone into this job and at the very least she will be rolled out of the hanger in a better condition than when she went in (I hope!).

Please, from a person who lives in hope and optimism lets not go through with this type of thread again and support the crew in getting her back to where she belongs, no matter how rocky the road.

    Kindest regards,

    John.

    Wise words indeed.

    Trust Moggy can understand too?
