Thanks for the advice everyone, the reason the D50 has caught my eye is that it’s the most reasonably priced at the moment,& the fact that i can use a lens i already have is a great reason to got for one.I didn’t realise that at 200mm on the F55 it’s the same as 300mm for the D50,how come?,And what will be the max.value in “mm” on the D50 for the same 300mm lens?.How big a problem is sensor cleaning with DSLR’s,bearing in mind i don’t plan on changing lens at all with it.
Cheers for the comments!
The early delievered ryanair 737’s are due to be retired already in a year or two,so i’m not sure why they’ve bothered to repaint them,i can understand adding winglets,as it would add to the sell-on price
For zero zoom that’s a mightly impressive spot!,i must get my finger out & go there!,what’s that place called exactly?
Very good read your report!,did you manage to do any spotting whilst in palma?
I was up there myself on Wednesday…down the other end of the runway though 🙁 ,anyway instead of posting a new thread i’m gona post two nice one’s here(hope you don’t mind),maybe on your next trip i’ll bump into you fellas 😉

Thanks for that Tom 🙂
An irish avation magazine also speculated about 2/3 of the RJ85’s being prepared at norwich about a month ago, although it didn’t mention any delievery dates or problems
“So apparently one flight across the atlantic recieves the same amount of radation as an x-ray”.
A few problems with that statement, x-rays are much stronger then the UV(ulta-violet) rays that come off the sun,UV rays lack the power to penetrate through metal(i.e an aircraft fuselage),so a few hours of UV exposure is not the same as a few minutes/seconds of x-ray exposure.Another factor is that when any form of light passes through glass,it refracts(bends),therefore changing the wavelength & frequency further reducing it’s power. To sum up this is a bit of myth & that no amount of flying will in anyway cause the same effects of x-rays,the sun simply doesn’t produce that kind of radiation on earth.
Thanks for the advice Paul,i think i’ll stick with ther fuji for the moment.I would obviously like to get a DSLR at some stage but the are a few reasons that turn me off, firstly the fact that they’re quite heavy compare with my little fuji,i cycle most of the time to the airport & this extra weight is a big factor, secondly the price,i am a student at the moment & i have a good few other things to spend a round €1000 on 😀 ,although i weep everytime i see a.net or jp.net stuff
They do indeed at least on saturdays & sundays from EXT.Although they’re only going to be used during summer months 😉
The shot attached best illustrates what i’m talking about,as for the settings i use:
“P” mode on the dial & the ISO set to 100 or 64,100 in this case. The sharpen option is set to standard. The exif data is shown below, ingore the ISO rating the ISO range limit is 1600 so i don’t know where it’s getting that from

Sorry i’ve no idea of the flight numbers or schedules.
From what i can remember during summer 2002 at the weekends there were at least two A321’s on the ground during the day, with 4 sometimes on the ground. They also operated flights through the night to spain. One night about 3am i counted 4 bmi A321’s either on stand or parked.
