That and he won’t have to take any annual leave days to do his world tour :diablo:
Would he not also still get “sector pay” or whatever it is called for every hour he is away from base? I cant remember what is is called but all crew get paid £X per hour from the moment leaving base until they return??
Bruce was certainly a good investment for AEU. I hear alot of Iron Maiden fans will choose holidays with AEU flights to try and have him as their pilot.
He certainly is throwing business AEU’s way and I am sure he has a “rock star” wage from them!
I have already spoken to you by PM but just for anyone else BHD would probably represent a cheaper alternative in terms of the cost of living. Because of the troubles we are playing catchup with the world in some respects so it is a good time to get in but prices will even out with the rest of the UK over the next 5-10 years.
Our house prices do have some of the UK’s highest inflation due to increasing quality of life here. Our links with “the south” increase our quality of life and reduce cost because of the exchange rate etc. For example alot of people would go down to the border to fill their cars etc.
You would miss some high street stores like Staples etc but we have some alternatives. The only supermarkets, as GB viewers would know, would be Tesco, Asda, Lidl, Sainsburys and Marks and Spencer. We have some other Irish alternatives such as SuperValue or Dunnes Stores.
Quality of Life is very good because there is zero trouble (every area of UK has some trouble). We don’t have gun crime as much as “the mainland” and in general our crime rates are quite low. We have what is deemed as the best education system in the UK and very high quality schools spread about evenly.
Because we are a small place even if you live in the country (with no one around you) you can still be just 15-20 minutes away from the airport!
You could easily answer this yourself using Google. Its not hard. Plus people have talked about various airports loads of times on here. This thread makes you appear, to an extent, lazy as the information is out there…
Whilst Class 1 (for ATC and Comm. Pilots) medicals are done at Gatwick, try speaking to a local Doctor rated to do Class 2 medicals. They are listed on CAA website and should be able to give advice.
Hearing a rumor that AB’s rates being charged by BHD were raised to try and entice them out to make way for Ryanair as this frees up a 737 stand (we only have 2 other than bmi’s own stand)
I’ll get me goat……..
.
Does it go to the catering department afterwards?
I wish I had got that captain on my JFK-LHR UA flight!
Thank god for bmi.
Well said! Air Berlin are my favourite Loco but I have seen a recent down grading such as lack of drinks or snacks/sandwiches onboard.
The tailcone seem to be hanging on by a cord. Perhaps anyone with MD-83 experience can enlighten? In any case it is not flying anywhere with that hanging off.
Is that not an emergency exit slide?
I was listening to the news reports about the Aer Lingus strike. They seem to be striking for two days next Tuesday and Wednesday due to Belfast pilots being paid less than Irish ones.
I was more amused to hear of the Irish pilots union name….. “impact”
So can I still say I hope a 747 will land on that camp? Just asking. :diablo:
On second thought, make that a harrier, they are made for the purpose of pissing of greenies and landing in tight places.
If they invade EGLL’s runway, it wouldn’t stop me from taking off!
I am sure BAA must have cancelled all airport security (esp for perimeter etc) leave for the next week or so to make sure they stay off airport property. It would be niave to think that there was no undercover police trying to find out what was going on also…
My dad is scheduled now to fly into Heathrow on Sunday. At least he uses the express so should be no delay? If any protestors want to chain themselves to the tube rails than I say let them!

Let’s keep the basis of this discussion firmly on commerical aviation or we shall have to setup camp moderation… :diablo: (its the way i tell ’em)
