Let’s keep the basis of this discussion firmly on commerical aviation or we shall have to setup camp moderation… :diablo: (its the way i tell ’em)

It was widely known this was the location yet ICL did nothing to prevent access but not are claiming they do not wish them to use the site. ICL will have to make some sort of effort to clear them (i.e. asking them or using security) before Police will normally help.

Im surprised how far this is from Heathrow. The media, during injunction coverage, seemed to imply they would camp right next to access roads etc on bits of grass. Jurys Inn has a green bit across the road from it and thats a main T4 access route.

Im glad I am not flying on Sunday into or out of LHR. One assume the road networks will be chaos but 1,800 peelers should help! Im guessing anyone going to LHR will try and use tube or express to ensure their journey is not distrupted?

I do think BAA are unfairly targeted as these protestors are complaining about all aviation not just the BAA group airports.

I think vertical is 2000ft? You have to pick a odd altitude (e.g. 35,000ft) going West Bound and even going East (or is it other way around?)

Unsure of seperation between times. I know you have a 10 minute window to enter NAT tracks and you have a set maximum speed as per your flight plan so they can make sure no one creeps up on one behind.

Unsure if they stagger it so for example plane 1 is 35, plane 2 is 37, plane 3 is 35, plane 4 is 37 etc etc

Whilst not a real example this happened on NCIS on TV a while back. King Air pilot turning over built up area had green lazer shone into his eyes and as a result he crashed killing all onboard and a few bystanders.

I thought the people were standing by the runway threshold given how low the plane was. I couldn’t believe the runway was further down!!

Weather here is not the best for a sea voyage, im surprised they took her as they wanted a “clear weather window”. It could be worse I suppose.

H&W will need to clear their shipyard first there is a fair bit of stuff at the back including a ferry unless its departed recently!

    Monty,

I don’t think there is any doubt about it being a loss leader for the council. If they had more space and longer runway I think they may start to get back their money.

This did happen to bmi at Belfast City Airport before between the Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 (or is it 2 and 3) holds for for RWY 04. It resulted in all bmi traffic being sent out to Alpha 2 and backtracking to the runway resulting in a short time delay.

The airport put new foundations in and then re tarmaced resulting in a surface that any aircraft the airport is rated for can use.

I would be very surprised if this was a “new” issue at Londonderry as its not something that just appears one day, the ground would always have been prone to this problem just maybe lucky up to now.

EGAE really couldn’t give the local people campaigning against them any more fuel could they?

The first flights will begin in December to Amsterdam, Barcelona and Geneva, followed in January by London Heathrow.

In February, the airline will commence services to Budapest, Faro, Malaga and Rome.

I think AMS may yeild well if prices kept low ish as Sabena always filled a 737 on that route. Pitty they cant offer a business product like Sabena did!

Budapest will be popular, Malaga won’t be easy at all, if Rome departure is mid morning will be the more popular service as current dep from BFS is 0600 ish.

LHR as my comments above. Rest of routes are all direct competition also seems odd.

Only a departure pre 0700 would make people switch from bmi to Aer Lingus as it would get them into LHR sooner than the first 0700 departure from Belfast City. They may benefit from providing a say 2200-2300 arrival from LHR into BFS as bmi are limited by BHD opening hours.

I would add that bmi are at no risk of loosing business or premium economy passengers as the benefits and schedule outweigh anything EI offer. I think maybe they will pick up economy passengers from the likes of the more northern or western counties but this is not a threat to bmi.

I think their EU routes are a bad selection and they would possibly be sucessful in long haul routes esp a West Coast USA link given that is where we have the most amount of business links to outside of Europe!
