…adding the company was looking to utilise the services of Indian IT companies

I hope this does not mean outsouring to any call centres as if it is the same ones as HSBC, customers will not be happy!

Love the Iran Air, the main gear looks very small!

We were watching some rugby at Headingley stadium in Leeds yesterday. Departures were interesting – some amazing drift was being encountered. The props were really struggling.

Indeed the Ulster v Leinster match was not helped at all by wind on Saturday. We have Irelands best kickers but they were unable to impress due to the wind!

I am a bit worried given i am flying DUB-LHR on Friday and LHR-DUB on Sunday and the weather predictions are not exactly rosy! Mind you if we diverted to BHD on way back it would save me 3hrs travelling and get me a free return economy flight with bmi – roll on bad weather at Dublin! (Obv from Sat onwards!) 😀 :dev2: :diablo:

I have queued on several occassions in excess of 1hr (and twice in excess of 2 hours) for takeoff at JFK and can see this being useful. Our BA 777 shut down engines on a remote ish taxiway to conserve fuel so I can see JFK being able to fit such operations in as we were close to runway when we shut down, just out of the slightly flowing queue of traffic.

i read some info regarding this sometime back…

however the pilots were against the idea as they liked to know the engines were working correctly on idle and no reported faults and the taxi run confirmed all was ok…..

    Hopefully wysiwyg can comment?

How much fuel is used from stand to runway??? is it more than a tow truck, running and servicing a tow truck, addtional staff, salarys, time it takes being towed compare to un-aided? (time = money!)

the way fuel prices keep going up the answer is more likley to be YES!

Electric Tow Trucks do exist AFAIK?

Please bear in mind that forum members are under no obligation to use their time to find answers to questions for other members. It is their decision to help and they should not be facing criticism for not replying to questions.

If your questions is “quite simply really” should you not be able to find out? I am sure an element of “self help” would be appreciated before asking on the forum, especially if you think the answer is easily obtainable…

I was wondering about that too… Perhaps they found concentrated hotspots of radiation ? Incidentally I gather all the planes involved are now back in service.

BBC News 24 reporting one of the UK is back in service whilst one is undergoing further tests etc. The Moscow one has arrived back in the UK.

But how do you know what I did for work experience? Like Flex says, it depends which one you go to. Some treat you nice and don’t treat you like 5 year olds and some treat you like absouletly crap. It’s pot luck.

    Just my opinion 😉

    Gents, lets not start arguments…

I flew on BZHA 3 times the following week, and it’s a pain getting to sleep at night with this green glow I’m emitting.

    1L.

Is BA conducting screening of staff working on the aircraft or have you been told to contact NHS Direct?

A few years ago I did 2 days at Belfast City and 2 days at Belfast Intl with ATC. OK i did get these through contacts I gained but netherless they do it alot for WE students. At Belfast Intl, which i prefered, I sat in the tower or radar room watching.

At Belfast City I was out with the Fire Brigade operating equipment, bird scaring as well as in the control tower. Belfast City did a program normally over 4 days which gave you half a day in each area including the above and baggage, customer services etc.

Some of those fares seem very good value for money. Such as LPA to BFS for £25 including tax! Some of their fares are cheaper than easyjet – and I dont mean the clearance ones!
