Looks like the magazine might finally be on the ‘up’ again. I remember not so long ago that it was unbearable and whereas I used to enjoy reading it, it became a chore as the months went on.

45-minute turnarounds in Birmingham? Their aircraft can hold 337 passengers. This seems such a short amount of time to get so many people and their bags off of such a large aircraft, then to clean it and then to load it up again, ready for its next flight.

Agreed totally Michael, I am currently looking to fly down to LHR on the autumn, and feel that over £70 return with bmi is a bit of a rip off now there is no food or drink included in the price, still gonna pay it though, determined to come to LHR, although im also considering BA from MAN, though then that comes back to your arguement about the cost of travelling to other airports.

I however have to disagree with what you said about EI. I just love them. There is always a great athmosphere on board usually a relaxed one and there fares are great aswell.

I have to disagree with you as well. Obviously there isn’t always a great atmosphere on board, since this is something I complained about on my two flights with them.

For what you get with Aer Lingus (much the same as Ryanair/easyJet, except you are assigned a seat), the airline does not represent good value for money, especially not out of London Heathrow.

The whole experience was not nice, from checking in for the flight at Heathrow right up until arriving back in London that same night.

I would avoid Aer Lingus for domestic flights in future. I’ve said it many times before that I’m a fan of full-frills carriers. I believe in a complete inflight service (included in the cost of your ticket) regardless of the length of the flight.

In a word no. An a/c of that size would get in and out of LBA no problem. The problem is the amount of fuel it would need to get to New York. With all that fuel on the a/c would weigh too much and would need to much rwy to get airbourne from LBA.

Surely that doesn’t apply to the smaller, just as capable aircraft, such as the 757?

I really want to try Aer Lingus if I return to Dublin, as said in my report the A320 parked next to us after arriving at BHX seemed like a very comfy ride even from the outside!

I’d stick with Ryanair if I were you. Aer Lingus seem to offer much the same as Ryanair in the way of its non-existent inflight service. The only difference is that Aer Lingus will burn a bigger whole in your pocket.

I’m not a fan.

G-OBYI was the last charter aircraft I flew on back in Summer of 2001 from the Dominican Republic (LRM) to London Gatwick.

Can’t remember a great deal about, but I always rated Britannia as one of the better charter airlines.

He was featured on ITV’s ‘Airline’ a couple of years back and does fly for easyJet.
