    Some excellent shots you’ve taken!

I am meeting up with a friend in Budapest who is flying Wizz-Air from Luton two days before I depart with British Airways from Heathrow.

Here’s the latest to arrive, some more are being held hostage by HM Customs until I cough up eight quid !

Excellent models! I especially like the A321.

As for the Customs Problem, I had that as well. The whole £8 does not go to Customs & Excise though. £4.00 does go to Royal Mail, though they try not to admit to that. Their shameful charge is for re-packing parcels once they have been opened. Most of the time, the packages have not even been opened!

Long way to go to connect. Whats wrong with LHR or AMS. I dont like Emirates but I do like the original and still the best Gulf Air. I used to like their Tristars!

Connections are not always necessary because an alternative airline may offer direct services.

On the other hand, a flight which is not direct can often cost less and is ideal for those who want to stretch their legs half way into their long flight to the Far East for example. Whilst on holiday, I came across many people who had flown with Emirates from their local airports, connecting in Dubai. Since this is the base for Emirates, a connection here is the only possible option.

I just dont understand. How are Emirates, Qatar Airways, Gulf Air and now Gulf air Traveller filling those horrible A330s from the likes of BHX and MAN and GLA.

Is everyone within a 20 mile radius of Manchester going to Dubai every day! There will soon be as many flights a day from the UK to Dubai and Bahrain than to Palma and Amsterdam!

Don’t forget that it isn’t just British people travelling to Dubai. Many of the passengers on every flight could be citizens of Dubai who are returning home.

Also, Dubai is an ideal airport for connections, especially with Emirates. Onward flights all over Asia are available.

I am also a fan of the current colour scheme.

I’m not so keen on the squared divide between the white and grey parts of the fuselage though. I think that choosing either one or the other for the colour of the aircraft would be better, but taking such an approach would make it look incredibly similar to the current colours.

Back in the year when Katrina and the Waves won the Eurovision Song Contest (1997 I think?), I remember our flight to Heraklion with Airtours was hell. They played the song at least 10 times throughout the flight.

Indeed – take the old terminal at Palma, no air conditioning, inadequate and broken seating, dirty toilets…nostalgia ain’t what it used to be.

You want to count yourself lucky that you even have toilets!

Heathrow Terminal 1’s Domestic Departure lounge doesn’t have many. I stopped off for quick pee in July at the only toilet I could find. Although they were clean, there were just two toilets. Needless to say, there was a rather large queue to join.

Another great service for the ever-expanding Birmingham Airport. But a couple of questions:

    1. Will the service be popular since it is being operated in an all-economy configuration? Not everyone can make do with the leg room on what will a flight lasting in excess of 6 hours.

    2. Would it not be wiser to operate these flights throughout the week rather than at the end of the week? Four flights is great, but perhaps something like Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday would be better, giving passengers a bit more choice as to when they fly.

I think it goes without saying that the colour scheme looks far superior on th 757-200 than it does on the 737-200! :p

Here in Hong Kong, all our air bridges have two doors. One for first and Business and the other for economy. A great idea.

Every time I have flown with Thai, they have used these airbridges which split in two about half way down – one entrance for First/Business Class and the other for Economy.

After our late arrival with Thai into Heathrow back in April, I was very surprised to see that we parked up at a remote parking stand and steps were used. With just one exit is use and me being sat just three or four rows from the back, I was anything but happy! I took about 25 minutes to offload all 400(ish) passengers.

    Very nice.

I saw most of those aircraft/airlines the week before last. In particular, the Varig MD-11, Flight Line 146, JAL 772 etc.

I presume by your post T5 that because you are studying for a degree you are superior to someone who has worked all their life and that the job you will get will also be better than that of an ‘air steward’? Just asking.

    You presumed wrong.

You have not interpreted what I have said in the way it was intended.

The impression I got from ‘purser’ was that he felt that all forum members who didn’t already work in the aviation industry would want to at some point. The fact that I have studied for years on end and now reaching my final few years as a student, studying something completely unrelated to aviation proves just how little I want a career in aviation.

Simply proving that was he saying did not apply to me!

Yeah right, of course you don’t.

Having a biased opinion isn’t nice is it!

Why on earth are you questioning me about bias? It was not me that annoyed you by making some upsetting remark in an earlier post.

You’ve clearly had a rowdy passenger today. Why not take an early night?

I’m currently studying for a degree as well… certainly not to become an Air Steward either.
