I’m currently using Babarosa GIF Animator 3.5 which is actually shareware. However, my version was downloaded from http://www.download.com

The image you create will say “trial” all over it, but if you just copy and paste a white patch over the entire image, you’ll cover it up and nobody will ever know the difference.

The only problem is that Download.com has only got version 3.6, not sure what the difference is or if you can use this little trick to get around the “trial” problem.

Looks very good, but the English/Italian language facility needs a little work.

    British Caribbean Airways

    * AIRCRAFT – Boeing 767-300, not only because I like the aircraft but because it is probably the cheapest long haul aircraft on the market these days,

    * DESTINATIONS – Destinations in the Caribbean such as Montego Bay (Jamaica), Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), Cancun (Mexico), Holguin (Cuba), Princess Juliana (St Maarten) etc. These routes would be popular with tourists and the aircraft do not go the the country’s main airports.

    * LIVERY – Something bright would be used in the colour scheme. Beachy colours like sky blue and yellow.

    * NAME – British Caribbean Airways

    * UK HUBS – Primarily London Gatwick and possibly Manchester.

    * TYPE – The airline would be a low cost one, flying to airports used by holiday airlines and other low costs. On board service would be simple. All passengers would be able to enjoy audio and visual entertainment. Televisions are sprawled all over the aircraft.

Where did I read that Astraeus were after a long haul aircraft? Perhaps it was in Airliner World.

I think the reason my family an I have stopped going there is because it is turning into one of these trashy Spanish islands, but hasn’t quite reached the trashy stage.

Let’s face it though, it’s not quite as bad as Ibiza and Mallorca in my opinion. Skyscraper hotels with basic facilities, miles away from the nearest, crowded beach, just don’t appeal. Hotels in the Dominican Republic are much nicer and probably about the same price, too. Many will have their own private beaches and be all-inclusive, there is really little need to leave the hotel.

In Playa Dorada, a compound of hotels, all about 500 metres from the beach, you’re safe at all times of the day. The area is protected my security guards all day, every day.

But Europe is becoming more and more expensive these days and many of the hotels I’ve come across on the continent have not been comparable to those in America, Asia and the Caribbean. The more distressing thing is that a holiday to Spain can cost as much as one to the Dominican Republic… or more.

It’s all very well to say to go to other islands like St. Lucia and Antigua, but to do this could easily cost 100% more. I think as a first taste for the Caribbean, it’s ideal. We tried it three times (1999, 2000 and 2001) and felt we’d seen all there was to see.

It’s becoming very popular, being the cheapest Caribbean Island available to tourists.

Flights from the UK are strictly limited to charters; Air 2000, Monarch Airlines, Britannia and MyTravel. But connect through Florida or New York and you should have no problem.

    Beaches…

Depends where you are going to. If you go to the North side of the island, you’ll be swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. On the South side you’ll be swimming in the Caribbean Sea.

    Currency…

The Dominican Peso with 100 centavos making 1 Peso, although the US Dollar is widely accepted.

    Hotels…

I think all hotels featured in UK tour operator’s brochures are all-inclusive – meaning all meals and drinks are included at any time of the day.

    More about the country…

“Occupies the eastern two thirds of the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean. Frequent coups and a strong US influence mark its recent past.”

    “Heaviest rainfall in the Northeast”

    “Population is 7,600,00 (7.6m)”

What exactly do you want to know? Myself and adamwri have both been there and have given various comments but you don’t seem to have acknowledged them in any way.

    lol..

Not sure what their A320s seat, but I reckon around 150 seats is probably about right.

Would the A319 not be too small for such an airline?

I worked all day Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and today, clocking up some 46 hours. Much of the weekend was spent getting to and from work on trains, filled with Reading Festival goers… yuck. 😡

    Nice report.

I flew an A319 of British Airways last year and liked it. It was G-EUPV and we flew to Barcelona on it. Unfortunately, the return flight was on just a 737-400 G-DOCM.

This year, at Bologna, I watched our British Airways 737-400 G-BVNN landing from Gatwick. Within 15 minutes of landing, the aircraft was boarding for it’s return flight to London.

Anyone who was already registered before the switch from the DC Forum to VBulletin seems to have the default date of 1 January 2000. Some have not been here that long (myself included) and others have.

    😉
