Very nice, here’s my version that I expect you’ve seen before. Done on a crappy camera, so the quality isn’t great!

When we went to New York last year, it seemed to good to be true that we had landed 50 minutes early. So upon arrival at Heathrow, we parked up somewhere and waited… and waited… and waited… until about an hour later we went to the gate because an American Airlines 777 was departing late and we had arrived early – not the best situation! With it being 8:00pm at night in November, there’s not much to see, plus the windows were steamed up!

I think our transport-guy, Mr Livingstone should rectify our absolutely knackered public transport system before even attempting to introduce a congestion charge.

The only way I can to Heathrow without a car is to ge the Southwest Trains Reading to Waterloo service and get off at Feltham, connecting onto a bus. These trains are pathetic. Only about 15-20% of the time are they actually running on-time!

It’s possible. I think Concorde is still a strong, potentially profitable aircraft and one that shouldn’t go to waste.

    What a waste.

I think technology has just taken a dramatic step backwards. Whereas you could travel over the Atlantic in 3 hours aboard a supersonic jet, it will now take at least twice as long. We want to get to places quicker…

I think it is an absolutely dreadful idea! The point in that article that stood out most was the one which mentioned the fact that family and friends will have to pay money just to wave their loved ones off on their trip!

I’m not in any way affected by these congestion charges and have not agreed since they were introduced. So, people will stay away to avoid the £5 charge, but it’s yet another tax and yet MORE money!

    An interesting article.

I don’t think it’s an impossible task to smuggle nail clippers(!!), knives and bottles etc onto aircraft. When I retured from Florence 2 months ago, I was shocked at the security. I actually set of the metal detector and the security officer simply patted my legs and then waved me on. I could have quite easily have something up my sleeve – not that I’d want to!

The visitors centre is useless. It’s not too close to the action.

It’s location is good though, with a 24 hour McDonald’s right behind. There was also a time when you could get in and park for free, now they charge for it.

    Nice photos.

KLM Asia? What is it with airlines having Asian versions of the airline? British Airways has British Asia Airways.

The way I understood it was that BA would continue to operate Concorde until 2010 when a suitable replacement was found – the Sonic Cruiser which we now know is not to happen.

I don’t think the world could live without supersonic air travel!

The BAC 111 is a dreadful looking aircraft, but that Tristar looks wonderful!

Wonderful. I posted a similar photograph quite some months ago which featured a Scandianvian SAS Dash 8 aircraft taking off. A rainbow led us right to the aircraft…

    …great sight!
