RE: The most delicious airline site on the net….

I noticed this topic was slipping to the bottom and didnt see the last post. I’ve ovly flown British Airways once (there and back) and the food was the finest I’ve ever had. They have what is called “The All Day Deli” and on a 90 minute flight, we had a choice of a healthy cheese and vegetable wrap with salad or cheese and pickle sandwiches in big chunky bread. Returning home, we had a choice of a Tuna Salad which was presented brilliantly or Ham and Brie Salad. Me being me, I had never sampled Brie before and wish I never had, it was foul, but the food was top-notch and they done two drinks rounds where all soft drinks were free – I look forward to flying with them again.

    RE: Farnborough

I live in Reading and the Holiday Inn is on the Thames, so it’s not going to be cheap. As I said above, it’s really easy to get to Farnborough from Reading itself.

I think the before you move quite so far away from the aerodrome, why not try Camberley or Aldershot – they may have a Travelodge, where rooms are £40 or £50 per night and sleep up to 4? The Holiday Inn will be incredibly expensive as it is quite a posh place with nice surroundings and also, it’s in the centre of town.

    RE: America

Brazil V. England on Friday will be a toughy. I have a negative attitude towards everything and I think Brazil might just knock us out, but we’ll have to wait and see.

A few days back, England were second favourites to win overall with Brazil as the most likely winners..

I’m glad Florence has been named as a favourite, I’m off there in February for a photography trip… should be great fun!

    RE: your favourite cities

I have only ever visited Barcelona (a real city) and this was fantastic. I wouldn’t even dream of saying that I liked London, I live just 40 minutes or so away from the pollution and traffic and can’t be done with it. It is expensive, an absolute mess, I mean, since when did a Ferris Wheel made two years ago look good alongside the Houses of Parliament, the place really is a dump and I’m not sure quite what tourists see in the city. We’re even going to be (or are already) paying to access certain roads in London to “reduce traffic” and lanes in some places are divided up for the number of passengers in the car… we’re a creative nation, but our capital city could be much better.

    RE: Funniest event on board

When returning from Barcelona back in February, the passengers on the BA A319 aircraft suddenly started laughing. When I looked at the map which shows us where we were, I discovered what the joke was!

As we arrived in London about 20 minutes early and Heathrow could not slot us in, we were told to fly to Biggin Hill and come back, this happened twice. The aircraft performed a series of turns and the red line on the map showing where exactly we were started drawing something that looked just like a penis. When there’s thirty 16, 17 and 18 year olds on board, the joke just never comes to an end!

It’s certainly a great pic – Over the wing shots (passenger’s point of view) are always the best!

    RE: Farnborough

You can’t fly to Farnborough from London, but if you were to be able to get to a London Airport (LGW or LHR), transport to the aerodrome is easy and modestly priced.

Gatwick trains to Reading run every 30 mintues I think and these stop at Farnborough North, about 15-20mins walk from the location. Alternatively, Railair Bus from Heathrow gets you to Reading where you can get a train to Farnborough North. The closest rail station is Farnborough Main (the bigger of the two) but this is on a different line and will require changes.

However, go to http://www.thetrainline.com/ and plan a route by train. Your nearest railway station to Farnborough and it will give prices, times, number of changes etc.

    Hope this helps,

RE: Music/Musician That You Can’t Stand?!?!

Only residents of the UK will be familiar with the dreadul S Club Juniors, 8 kids no older than about 12 or 13 and they really cannot sing but a computer and eight children doing karaoke can produce quite a catchy little number!
