Links Heathrow to Reading Railway station, from here, get the train to Farnborough North. There are no services to Farnborough Main from here, but F. North is only a 15-20 minute walk away and simply ask for directions as you go along…

    Crikey…!!

140 people on a 777 – imagine all those empty seats. It would have been a window seat for everyone!

I doubt we’ll come anywhere… all our squad are cripples.

We also got a cheapo version of an “After Eight” mint with Britannia last year, but this was with a meal and it doesn’t cure ear-poppinhg when you’re already at cruising altitude!

I’m not one for military aviation but I’ve really been looking forward to this, regardless of what’s on show – a 737 and a couple of ATR42s are going to have to do! I’m just so glad I’m going this year!

I think tof JMC is brilliant. i’ve not been too keen in the past but when lined up with other airlines on a cold winters day, it looks great. It stands out and makes it feel like summer for a few seconds.

I agree with the comment about Britannia, the stupid little colon and bracket thingy represents nothing Britannic. I’ve posted a pic that I took last year which most of you will have seen already, but how does the new livery compare to this masterpiece?

Farnborough has two railway stations; Farnborough and Farnborough North. It is Farnborough which is closest to the event and this is on the London Line.

If you were to travel to Reading, you could connect onto a Thames Train/Network Southeast and get off at Farnborough North. This is the Gatwick Airport train so don’t be tempted to stay on and go to Gatwick instead! 🙂

    Great pic… very “creative”(!!)

I think it’s tight that charters charge a compulsory £15 supplement per passenger for nothing more than a microwave meal when booking!

But anyway, I think the last time I received a sweet was on an Airtours flight to Heraklion back in May 1997. Relatively pointless idea anyway because most people seem to eat the sweet before the aircraft leaves the stand, thus not solving any ear-popping problems!

I take a packet of Campinos or Werther’s Originals and I’m excited that this year I’ll be able to buy the ultimate chewy toffee which wasn’t available last year! 🙂

    RE: Air 2000 ‘holy’ flight!

The problem obviously wasn’t seen or affecting the aircraft’s performance up until the passenger alerted the captain, how would this have affected the aircraft’s performance later on into the flight? Mid-Atlantic would have been hell, nowhere to turn to!

    Great info anyway.. thanks Ben.

    RE: world cup

I took a shot of a BA 777 in the rather disappointing world cup 2002 livery at heathrow a few weeks back. The only thing is the fact that pic was take in black and white, am I excluded from submitting me pic?

    RE: ITV’s ‘Airline’

I reckon Airline was so much better when they started off by telling us all about Britannia… I think we’ve seen enough of easyJet now and it would be great if they could go back to BY or another airline.

    RE: Camera’s

Zoom lenses don’t have to be expensive, I used a 35-200mm lens made by Sun and when I was interested in purchasing one, I knew they would be pricey. I had a good look around at Jessops etc and found that the London Camera Exchange came top. Top notch photographic gear for SLR users (i.e. me) and I picked up this lens for just £49 and it came with a six month guarantee, so I was pleased with my purchase. I would recommend second hand but buy from a shop you know, one with a reputation and make sure there is a guarantee with your purchase so if anything should go wrong, you’re covered.
