RE: AIRLINER QUIZ
It’s DHL and Continental, but I’m more concerned about the third one. I think it is a 732 for Ryanair. It was painted entirely in yellow and for some reason, was advertising Hertz car rentals.
RE: Airtours Review
Thanks for that dan330. I had a feeling it was Garuda. Unfortunately, like I said, the 16:20 flight didn’t leave til after 7 and taking a picture was very hard as the light was low but it also had some text on the body of aircraft which had been kind of removed, but not completely it was still quite visible. Whereas the name is usually at the front end of the aircraft, this almost invisible text was in the centre of the aircraft like the picture you showed.
If you look on the tail of Garuda Indonesia, you may notice there is some sort of creature’s head which was not on the Airtours aircraft and that made it a little more challenging to figure out.
*Something else about the A330*
I didn’t go to the toilet once on either of the flights but I heard that the toilets on Airtours A330s are quite spectacular. A flight of stairs takes you beneath cabin-level and into a large room complete with 5 seats and 5 toilets. Is this custom for all A330s because Airtours claim they were the first airline to do it?
RE: Airtours Review
hello again…
I’m not entirely sure of the route we took, I think it was just out over Land’s End and straight down. When we approached the Caribbean, we flew slightly north of Dominican Republic and then entered Haiti (it’s neighbouring country) from the north and left through the west. We then entered Jamaica from the East and flew West into Montego Bay.
I know this because of the tracker device which displayed our course. Sadly, we didn’t have this facility on the way home, but the Captain said we’d be going over Canada which seemed a bit extreme but my parents done the same course with Monarch in March 2001 from Holguin, Cuba. We entered the UK through Cornwall again.
I got on the Internet at the hotel in Jamaica. It was $5 for 30 mins (£3.50) which was rather expensive, but it was nice to have the facility available to me.
Glad you enjoyed the review..
RE: New MONARCH livery in the flesh!
I don’t think it matters what it looks like on the outside. It’s what is on the inside that counts.
By the way, that Monarch livery is pretty snazzy!
RE: St. Paddys Day
JMC Air are constantly celebrating St. Patricks Day with their sickening green.
RE: **Challenge #6**
I’m not stealing them… I’m merely borrowing them
RE: **Challenge #6**
WE HAVE A WINNER!
Saab 2000 correctly identified the aircraft as an Airbus A310. He did say it was a -200 series when in fact it is a -300 series but it’s close enough for me!
He also noticed that the airline was SATA International because of some text visible in the photograph!
The site from which the photograph was taken can be found at http://www.terravista.pt/fernoronha/4226/airbus.html
Saab, if you get an address to me, I’ll send you your well-earnt prize – just gotta fly with Airtours and get the thing first!
RE: **Challenge #6**
[marquee]IT’S NOT A 757![/marquee]
I have had a couple of emails suggesting that tha aircraft is a 757. Sorry, but it’s not a 757. I’m trying to push you towards the correct aircraft because there is a safety card up for grabs!
RE: **Challenge #6**
If you are using an email client e.g. Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora etc, it will automatically open the program and set the title as competition. This will not work with webmail I’m afraid. 🙂
Good Luck!
RE: **Challenge #5**
It is indeed an Icelandair 757 – well done! 🙂
RE: Monarch New Livery-Picture
Most impressive… don’t want them ebing left behind when nearly every other airline changes it’s livery! Most impressive.
RE: **Guess the Airline and Aircraft #2**
The 767, what a fine aircraft!
RE: Pseudonyms
T5 is the way in which the proposed “Terminal 5” is being referred to at London’s Heathrow airport, just up the road from me.
RE: **Guess the Airline and Aircraft #2**
Yup… it’s definitely Excel (http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=221491) It’s also a 738 not a 762.
RE: **Guess the Airline and Aircraft #2**
Boeing 762 – Excel Airways? It’s their colours I think
