    Can you elaborate ?

Some wings are more or less “twisted” eg Rafale wings, MICA wingtips station look canted down, in fact they are in the wing axis (well that was explained to me by a DA engineer).

I meant inner pylon are angled downward and middle one upward, not by much with just the pylon but probably alot with the missiles

It could simply be the wing shape.

Russia and Norway already settled their dispute in regards to territorial waters.

There is nothing else to “make peace” over, Russia and Norway are not at war, nor will they be, and this Russian Navy group has nothing to do with Norway either, it is clearly aimed at the Syria situation.

Where it will not scare anyone.

I think it is better RUssia makes peace with Norway. Russia should give up some of its non historic territories back to Norway (and Sweden and Finland and Japan and a few other countries).

On the one hand I welcome our close friends and allies the Americans; on the other hand it is a pity that we are not able to defend our country by ourselves anymore. The Norwegian army has been reduced to almost nothing. And probably due to a combination of huge investments in the F-35 and low oil prices the Norwegian government is dragging the feets when it comes to upgrading the army.

Aren’t you on the process to buy high end 155 mm self propelled guns?

Following calculated by subtracting all French AF orders from total produced. Is this accurate? What numbers do you guys have

    1074 Mirage III
    532 Mirage V
    474 Mirage F.1
    286 Mirage 2000
    84 Rafale

Mystere family (india)? Falcons (not civilians)? you should ask directly to dassault PR dept, they are nice ppl.

Wow where did you find that? It was used for trimming apparently. Do you have more info?

Dassault archives in St Cloud. I’m on writing a booklet about Mirage 4000 story.

I am puzzled by its ability to reconfigure the canards in flight. What could they do with that? Could these canards have been upgraded later with full control like on the 4.5 gens?

The mirage airframe was very efficient for a single engine light fighter but the wrong layout for a large twin engine fighter. The Tornado fuselage is the proper layout for a large twin engine fighter and would have been top class if it had fixed wings and a higher wing loading. Making it swing-wing was idiotic and it handled like a hog.

Mirage 4000 wrong layout? You should see performance graphs…

Do you blame people for choosing the F-16 over the F-1? I think history has shown it to be superior.

i don’t blame ayone, just relateswhy F-1 did not evolve. for the rest, as far as M53 F1/FBW was never produced we will never know.

Can you prove that no manufacturers have done this? Can you prove that the Gripen NG vs F-35 figures are apples to apples, i.e. same mission, retaining DTs. Of course not, yet you falsely assume the onus is on me to prove otherwise. Furthermore note altitudes (5,000-25,000ft), are these the same for Gripen NG figures because 5,000ft makes one hell of a difference.

He doese not need to prove anything. That manufacturers often attent to bump range using such method is YOUR assumption. Doesn’t work that way. And it would be silly btw. Real clients have access to those data…

It does but manufacturers attempting to bump up range figures often state the range when discarding tanks

    Any precise and documented example?

F.1 was a great 3rd gen fighter who came out a little too late and was soon superceded by the new 4th gen fighters. Much like the Kfir

Well, loss of the “market of the century” to early F-16 somehow killed F-1. The proposed version received M53 engine and was scheduled to receive fly by wire. But european countries trusted Lockeed when they said F-16 avionics would be upgraded but not Dassault about fly by wire (said an old DA engineer). Second doom for F-1 was the give up of Super Mirage (more or less Mirage 4000) in favour of Mirage 2000 due to budget constraints by former PR Giscard d’Estaing.

Btw, apparently, the RFI (IF there was a RFI), mentioned sigle engine fighters. I guess it was intended to specify “light” fighter. Recent versions of F-16 are as big as Rafale or so, no?
