And someone here criticized my popularization articles about radars and stealth???
There is sometinf about Gripen NG (and i’m a fan), more specifically about SAAB PR bothering me. On one side they say that the technology is mature, trials near done, software ready (btw finally MS21 software, same in swiss eval) etc. and on the other hand that there is plenty of spae for development and intellectual property for future buyers…
Well so far they have lost ALL competitions but one, and the number of opportunities are rapidly diminishing, realistically perhaps just 2-4 countries left on this planet that can be considered potential Rafale buyers.
Well at least Rafale is delivering to french armed forces promised capabilities, on schedule and within expected budget… Not like some other planes… Btw
Mark Collins – Another US F-35 Oopsie
http://cdfai3ds.wordpress.com/2014/03/20/mark-collins-another-us-f-35-oopsie/
I don’t know. The general momentum in current Canadian weapons procurement strategy seems to favour EU gear: British submarines, German Leopards…
Interestingly, Trappier (Dassault’s CEO) seems rather confident in pushing for a Canadian sale despite being completely aware that when a country is committed to the F-35 it generally sticks to it whatever how things evolves. His answers to the AIN journalist’s questions between 1:10 and 6:30 are rather interesting: http://tv.dassault-aviation.com/2013-annual-results-questions-answers-1056-en.html
His answers about REplica in Wharton and India are also quite intereting. at 11 min.
Well in that case what are they doing in Canada!?
Because Canada hasn’t evicted them beside a won competition…
I find it amusing that Dassault stated that Eurofighter GmbH were wasting their time promoting Typhoon in South Korea because they were more than likely to go with a US type (i.e. F-35), yet they’re pitching Rafale to Canada, a Partner in the F-35 Programme, a country with strong ties with the US, a country that will 100% go for the F-35 regardless of the views towards it.
Nice one, Dassault… Nice one…
Dassault will never go to Korea after FX1…Maybe they simply want a real confrontation in an open competition?
He says much more than thayt, he says Dassault would contractually guarantee offsets to Canada equivalent of contract value, with possible penalties.
Considering the efficiency thay are showing on F-35 software dev. (LM), i doubt anyone would call them to set up anything…
Bleh publicly Spectra is flying with GaN antennas this very year… And btw Craig Hoyle is preparing another article on EW system, which is also imho the most exciting upgrade
i meant leasing, any weapons system from any country
Because lease is more expensive than buy option, and the “no side” burghers think the army doesn’t need new jets? 😮
It is not only a question of price, but also of politic interdependance.
Well… It was released with hundreds of other documents from hackers… Including passport copies of top executives etc. And noone denied…
Swiss voters set to reject Saab fighter jet deal, poll shows
62% against.
Italy considers cutting F-35 fighter jet order

It is, but then again before the MLU it seems offboard targetting is the thing. Shoot & beam is so 80ies!
Don’t worry, F-35 is coming… With neither rotating plate nor conformal arrays plans 😉
