Well L159 deal is dead then.
T50 will be a nice LIFT for the F16 with a secondary combat capability. Impressed that Iraq is going for a modern up to date type.
I have seen the figures for flight enveloppe of T50 and yes, its is a very nice lift for F16.In fact it largely covers all training “hotspots” (cant find the proper word in english) for interception etc.
Well, french press said that in the absence of defence minister, prolly no defense contract to be signed…
I hope, but do not think so as french defense minister is not doing the trip…
Its not so much landing that’s the problem but the vibration in the air. The SFTs (Tanks) vibrate and then the pylon sections crack. Originally it was the rivets that used to pull but they used stronger rivets and all that’s done is transfer the vib stress into the formers which now crack. I think I remember being told that even PWII vibrates slightly but is deemed within limits. I certainly remember one of the boffins doing static vibration testing with a 4 bomb load and there being lots of ‘Oh’ and ‘erm’ when the results were tabulated.
interesting… no doc available i guess?
No clue. Noone here really expect a deal this week. But good signs…
$51-52 million per plane
Lol
Eric Trappier will accompany PdT Hollande during his tour in Brazil on thursday
I wonder if there will be an issue with vibration on Stormshadow? The SFTs have a tendency to crack when fitted to Stns 5 & 6, obviously SS is quite a sensitive bit of kit and susceptible to vib.
well, if you consider that it can land on a deck, i guess it is not THAT fragile 😉
No, but Tranche2 can be retrofitted with AESA.
Nice photo of RL collimated display (tactical situation) in Rafale, from Vianny Riller Jr

Footage of first tranch 3 maiden flight
Ok, lets clear this up. The whole thing is coming from Qatar. They wanted proposals from EADS, DAssault and US via FMS few months ago. As US knew F18 tests hadn’t gone so well, they asked fora delay till the end of the year for their proposal. I suppose thay are wondering if they will propose F35 or not, and that Qatar is certainnly interested in evaluating it… No big deal… Personally i’m inclined to think they will buy (as they want to enlarge their air force) a mix of european and us made aircrafts.
Not sure your point here. Just because there was no briefing at the air show does not mean no information has been shared at any point.
There wasn’t any briefing with classified (aka reliable) data. Be it before or during air show (according to LM official, cant remember who)
